Today I took a taxi from Walvis Bay to Swakopmund. The taxi stand was located in an area that didn’t feel very safe, which made the start of the journey a bit uneasy. The driver initially asked for 100 NS, but I managed to negotiate it down to 50 NS.
After arriving in Swakopmund, I headed to Ankerplatz to enjoy a coffee latte. From there, I went to my accommodation to drop off my bag and settle in a bit.
Later, I met up with a travel friend I had previously met in Lusaka and again in Livingstone. He happens to be here just for a short visit — one night, to be exact. He kindly invited me for Chinese food, which turned into a really great lunch and a nice moment to reconnect.
After that, I returned to my accommodation to relax for a while, then headed out again for another coffee and some ice cream. On my way back to the hostel, I stopped by a supermarket to pick up a few things before ending the day.
This is what a normal day looks like for me now, after the robbery.
If you haven’t already, please check my other posts about what happened in Windhoek. If you’re able to support me, it would truly mean a lot — I’m trying to get a new phone so I can continue my journey and hopefully redo parts of my trip from Zanzibar, this time capturing it all again with photos and travel stories.
