Hello there, Today in Thailand is Songkran Day. It’s tradition that has been passed down for hundreds of year. Thai people in the past considered April 13 to be Thai New Year’s day. In the morning we’ll go to the temple to bathe the monks and listen to blessing. At noon until the evening we’ll have fun splashing water .
Why is Songkran festival in April ? Because its so hot month. It may be a gift for the ancient people to splash water to cool off. People who work in another provinces or work abroad will find days off to come home on Songkran day. It’s a good time for relatives to come together. Children ‘ll bathe their parents, grandparents and sibling for blessing.
This year , the atmosphere of Songkran festival is quiet cause of the epidemic of Covid. Moreover, the government wants people to refrain from activities that gather large crowds. So this year i don’t see people splash water. Young children maybe disappointed to have fun splashing with each other. This year Songkran festival looked lonely . When’l the bad Covid go out of the world?
