Day 11 - J. Goldcrown Skechers
I got inspired by the "30 day not-so ordinary ordinary items challenge" but as I love giving things a personal twist, I decided to change the format a bit for myself so it suits me better. I've adjusted it to the 30 pictures - 30 stories challenge. But some days you will see that I also use not-so ordinary ordinary objects.
Feel free to join the challenge at any time if you like.
Publish one picture a day during 30 days and write a story about that picture. This can be anything, any object in the home, a person, scenery or a pet. I'm going to share a diversity of pictures and challenge myself to step outside of the box.
Today I will share with you a pair of sneakers that I really looked forward to receive when I found them. Some background info would be smart, I guess. It's been forever since I found a pair of decent sneakers that I would rather keep on all day instead of kicking them out immediately after arriving home.
In the old days, you know when we were youngsters, the Nike Air Max Classics were the sneakers that we could afford as well as absolutely adored. Now when I say we, I mean my boyfriend and myself, but I know for a fact many others were glued to their classics when we were younger. They were simply ideal for partying as well without getting sore feet. I believe I had my first pair for many years, also because we were too poor to buy the most recent ones every time they were released and my grandparents gave them to me as they knew I'd be responsible with them.
At some point though, the design changed and I remember not liking them anymore, so that was the end of my Nike air max journey for many years but I didn't find a replacement giving me the same satisfaction, lol.
The first pair of Skechers in our household was not even long ago, less than a year ago to be precise. We were planning our emigration and I was going through the old stuff, some not worth carrying with us because we already had so many kgs to carry, haha. But we all wanted some light footwear for the trip as well as after arrival here for when slippers and sandals aren't convenient (good thing we did looking at our uphill home lol).
We went to the local shoe store and for my daughter I knew right away she'd get the Skechers pair with rainbow colors, she loved them right away and they seemed like a perfect fit. Which is funny considering they usually don't fit perfectly. One down, two to go. Or at least my boyfriend was the plan because I had a light pair of sneakers which weren't the best but at least they were wearable. I pointed out another pair of Skechers to my boyfriend, he tried them on expecting them not to be a good fit and as soon as the shoe was on, I saw him light up. Perfect, another one down, two light paired Skechers are going to Spain...
I took my old sneakers as you know, emigration costs a ton already so I felt stupid throwing these out knowing I'd probably stick to open shoes anyway for most of the summer. Then a few months later, the shoes were tearing and I found a pair of Skechers for really cheap, bought them and discovered that Skechers is the only brand so far where I need to have a size smaller, shit. I already threw out the old ones and labels etc. I dealt with them for months but my feet didn't thank me when walking downhill, I constantly slipped inside the shoe, probably not great for your feet either..
And then one day, I browsed on the web and find these J. Goldcrown sneakers that looked exactly like the old Nike Air Max Classic pairs we used to love so much. Could it be that Skechers brought back the old loved model? All others, even fake pairs we saw in Hungary, were too far off in design, but this pair seemed very similar. And I actually loved all the hearts on it, pretty flashy yes but I dig them. I ordered the last pair in my size and waited a few days until they arrived.
Only to find out the fit was not perfect and I would probably regret it so much and never wear them. Although I scored a good deal at 80 euros with them, I returned them a few days later. So far for my oldschool sneaker dream to find back the old Nike fit.
Oh well, at least we had fun looking at them!
