“One sign you haven’t done enough reading is if you find yourself agreeing with whatever book you read last. At first, it’s easy to be swayed by any reasonable argument. Once you’ve read a lot, you can see that even the best arguments have limitations.”
James Clear
Nothing better to start the week with a banger of a quote by one of my favorite authors, James Clear.
We can apply the core concept of this quote to nearly any aspect of our lives. When we don't have a lot of information on a subject or when we only know one side of the story, it's very easy to "buy" any argument that is minimally reasonable, especially if they corroborate our personal beliefs.
Some people will intentionally use that fact to manipulate their audience into buying their ideas (or products, services, you name it) but, sometimes, we can be unintended victims of that phenomenon.
For example, that can happen right here on Hive. Many of us have our favorite authors and in many cases they are a great source of information but it's important to keep in mind that even the best among us have limitations so its important to keep our minds open to different narratives.
