The sunset at Nafplio can be magic, as it was that afternoon that luckily I had my camera with me. We were planning to go to the best view point of the city and I knew what to expect.
This is the place we were having our parties when we were teenagers. Oh yes, I consider myself lucky to have grown up in this place.
The colors were beyond any expectation. I had Markos, my canine companion, with me, that couldn't understand why we have to stay still for so long. Luckily a girl played with him, this way I could have some focused photos :)
We spent quite some time there. The sky was getting darker and the atmosphere of the place was changing.
At the background you can see the castle of Argos, built in the 13th century BC or earlier. Argos is one of the oldest cities in Europe.

So, what is Bourtzi, as its Turkish name is? This small island worked as a fortress and was built by the Venetians in 1471. Its story is long. Venetians used it to get protected from the pirates, then the Turks took control, then it was where the executioner lived protected from the crowd, then a luxurious hotel! Nowadays it is just a lovely castle you can visit by boat and have a time travel experience. Last time I was there, was more than a decade ago for a jazz concert, ideal place to get lost under the sound of the music while traveling in history.
The theme of Deranged Photography Contest by this week is landscape. Being in Nafplio these days I couldn't think of a better view to share with you :)
