Bigar, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Romania
Hello friends,
A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit the most beautiful waterfall in Romania, named Bigar.
For a long time before visiting it I had been thinking about it, but all the time something else intervened and I didn't get to visit the area, because not only the waterfall can be visited here but also other very interesting sights.
The waterfall is located in the Natural Park Cheile Nerei-Beusnita, also here in this park we also visited the lake Ochiul Beiului, the lake that never freezes (if you are curious you can search in the blogs posted by me because I have a special blog with this lake).
The waterfall is very imposing especially when you are near it, and if you visit it in spring as we did, the water flow is very high and its spectacularity is on another level.
How did this waterfall become so well known?
From what I have read and of course seen on youtube, The World Geography through 2013 included this waterfall in the top of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, my opinion is that it fully deserves this title.
The entrance ticket cost us 5lei/1euro, and we had access to it, as there were stairs where you could have access.
But in 2021, after a torrential rain and a very high flow of water, the worst news comes, the* Bigar waterfall has collapsed.*
Due to the very strong torrents of water and the erosion of the material from which it was formed and under its weight it collapses and leaves behind all its stories of thousands and thousands of years and all the photographs, leaving beautiful memories of it as it was before.
I am very sad in a way that such a monument collapsed, but at the same time I am also very glad that I got to take some amazing pictures of it when it was in its heyday.
With a sad heart that we lost such a treasure, I tell you that this was our trip to the Nature Park of Cheile Nerei-Beusnita.
I thank you in advance for stopping by and taking the time to read and see the lines I wrote.
