Last year, around July, we were walking through the heart of Hunedoara County. Among the well-known sights, we couldn't miss Lake Cinciș or the "Hunedoren Sea" - a mysterious land in Transylvania.
Here we discovered a beauty of a particular picturesque, accompanied by some legends.
Located in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, only 10 km from the town of Hunedoara, Lake Cinciș is one of the largest reservoirs in Transylvania, covering 867 hectares with a maximum depth of 48 meters.
Lake Cinciș is one of the most visited recreational spots in Romania, and we ventured to the lake on a Hydrobike Adventure.
Legend has it that the name of the lake comes from the "five old men" who founded this new settlement. The five founders (grandfather, son and three grandsons) were actually brave warriors.
The five fought in the Turkish Moor, where they saved the Emperor from capture by the Turks. As a reward, the emperor gave them land where they built five houses. This gave birth to the village of Cinciș, which dates back to 1300.

Lake Cinciș is one of the largest lakes in Transylvania, here you can reconnect with nature, you can do many activities on the lake or at lakeside guesthouses.
The peak tourist season runs from the beginning of June to the end of August.
The average water temperature is 18°C, making swimming possible.
The main tourist attractions are fishing, water sports. The northern shore of the lake is made up of beaches, while the southern shore is made up of hills and forests.
A tip, the food in this area is amazing.
