In today's Index4Index Daily Inspired Motivation, I'm sharing a quote by Bruce Lee that expresses something very significant about the goals that we choose, namely that they are often place holders for clearer, more refined, and more meaningful goals, that we discover over time.
"A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at." - Bruce Lee
If we don't succeed in reaching a goal that we set for ourselves, how do we feel? Do we feel sad, hopeless, and disheartened? If we think that the goal that we set is the be all and end all for our goals, then those feelings may be understandable, though not necessarily helpful in getting clarity about what to do next.
If, however, we take a good look at the goal that we chose, and then with our greater perspective, awareness, and understanding, create another, more refined goal, we are able to move forward with good positive momentum. It may be, as we go through this process over time, we find that all, or most of our goals, are simply bullseyes, useful focuses for our attention, time, energy, and efforts, that will take us closer to what we are actually desiring.
The thing is, with our goals or our lessons in life, without the necessary perspective and experiences, that we don't know until we know. And once we do know, it is then possible to create new and better goals that are more in alignment with not only what we are wanting, but also very often as well with our greater purpose and mission in life.
Seeing all goals in this manner, as place holders for greater goals that we can't yet put clearly to words or fully imagine, is very useful indeed, as it allows for constant and ever-unfolding learning, growth, understanding, expansion, and refinement. Revisiting, reviewing, and reassessing our goals periodically is a very beneficial and useful practice indeed, and one that promises to help keep our outer focus and action in the world more closely aligned with our deepest desires and purpose.
Set goals, work toward them, reassess them, and then reform and refine them, as new awareness and understanding make themselves known to us. This way our goals grow and unfold as we do, which allows for even more growth, unfoldment, success, and fulfillment in our lives. That sounds like a fantastic recipe to success if you ask me!
Remember, dear friends, that we are all in this together, that we rise by lifting others, and that together we thrive, so onward and upward, joyfully together! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨
