Sitting pretty waiting for the show to begin
We had plans to go for a comedy show tonight but we decided to check out a culture and arts festival we came across. The venue was packed full and there were several food and drinks vendors around.
The stage was by the poolside and quite far from the audience. Although we got regular tickets, our distance from the stage was practically the same with those who paid for VIP tickets. The drinks were overpriced so we settled for a few cans of beer and water.
I ate shawarma and had my drinks and the show had still not started. Then the weather started changing and it looked like it was about to pour. The rain wasn't heavy, but it was enough to make us seek cover from the open space.
The show that was meant to start by 1pm had still not begun by 5pm and it was so tiring. When it eventually started, there were a lot of hitches. The sound kept going off and the stage lights were malfunctioning.
The MCs/comedians tried to hold it down but it was a fail still. There were some dancers who opened the show but their performance wasn't that thrilling. Then there was a talent show where singers and dancers performed. The singers mouthed their songs which the DJ played and that had me confused. Aren't they supposed to actually sing and perform their songs?
The talent show was paused because the music kept going off and it was at that point we decided to take our leave. We had looked forward to a cultural display but we didn't get that and it was late evening already. This was not an arts and culture event and we would have been better off going to the comedy show we had initially planned going to.
That was how my Sunday went. How was yours?
