Hello Hive friends! Time really flies; it's already May, and it’s one of my favorite months, especially if you live in the province. The month of May means fiesta season in our town. It’s always nice to go home and join in the festivities, just like the annual processions every feast day, like the one in the pictures. My aunt was the Hermana Mayor, or the main sponsor for the feast, and Dannah was one of the angels in the procession.
Here’s a fun fact: Did you know that in Guiuan, out of all the 31 days in May, 17 days are barangay fiestas? You will never go hungry; you can just go from one barangay to another for the whole month, plus the Fiesta celebration in our town lasts for 4 days. We have the anti, desperas(the night before the main day), fiesta day, and the liwas, which is the day after.
Plus, every barangay fiesta has a nine-day novena leading to the feast day, which means that every night during that nine-day novena there is a cultural event in the town plaza, mostly a singing contest, a dance contest, or any other activity where locals can compete and win prizes.
There are just so many things to do in the province in the month of May.
How about you? Do you also celebrate Fiesta’s birthday this month? What’s your favorite thing in the month of May?
