As I wandered through town I realized that they make bowls in aluminum that resonate when struck.
The mould is made and I was able to catch some of the process at this stage.
You can see other molds in the background. This cast is cooling and you can see the pour hole that will be shaved off later.
Each cast will be individually harmonized by way of shaving off areas till the right tone is achieved.
A trade secret and language barrier keeps the process and material used a semantical secret, that can be enjoyed with the eyes.
A shot of the work area. The many hours of walking around has hard packed the floor to a point that it has taken on a new colour of its own.
Close up of a bowl half. Not exactly sure what is happening here but the process continues and the artist is more then happy for me to watch and see.
I was considering purchasing a bowl that resonated with me....unfortunately the bowl that rung my inner bell was much to large and heavy to carry on a motorbike for another 7 months....
Rough job as this man legs are hacked to bits....perhaps he has a hobby that does this to his legs.
These bowls are ready for the next step. Welding together and shaping for tone. During the time that I was there, this is what was done. Everything is a process. After a few hours I had to carry onwards to the next place that my sense took me. there is a scent in the air I must fallow.
Fallow along as there is more to come.
These pictures come from around the outskirts of the town of Thua Thien Hue in Vietnam heading south and around ill spend a few says here searching for more to see and people to meet.
