Entre pedazos de madera,
un tronco se menea
luego saca la cabeza
¡no es un tronco!
es una zarigüeya,
que un pollo lleva.
Between pieces of wood,
a log wiggles
then sticks its head out
it's not a log!
it's a possum,
carrying a chicken.
Se va andando,
con su ave amarillo claro,
recorre mundos extraños
hasta que aparece el gato
y se lleva el pollo con cuidado
dejando al zarigüeyo desconcertado
y solitario.
He walks away,
with his light yellow bird,
he wanders through strange worlds
until the cat appears
and carries off the chicken with care
leaving the possum bewildered and lonely.
Por ahí pasa una chica,
que lleva pan de masa fina,
nota la tristeza del zarigüeyo
y le ofrece un trozo de pan fresco.
La chica da dos pasos y regresa
y al animal se lleva con prudencia,
lo pone en un pastizal cercano
y le da una oveja, para que esté acompañado.
A girl passes by,
carrying fine dough bread,
notices the sadness of the opossum
and offers her a piece of fresh bread.
The girl takes a step and turns back
and takes the animal cautiously away,
leaves it in a nearby pasture
and gives it a sheep, to keep it company.
Cuando alguien te hace daño,
siempre te sientes decepcionado,
pero, olvidas algo,
que si has sido bueno y bien portado llegaran instantes mágicos,
buenos momentos que borren el pasado.
When someone hurts you,
you always feel disappointed,
but, you forget something,
that if you've been good and well-behaved, magical moments will come,
good times that erase the past.
