Hi hive garden🌳🌺 ,
How are you all?
So,
Both Saturday and Sunday are my off days., so the extreme cold conditions in Sri Lanka two or three days ago have gradually going subsided. so i visited the our land. All my mother's brothers, father's brothers live in near our house, and also , my grandmother has a big land. the land also near the our house. In that large land, many valuable agricultural export crops like nutmeg , cloves, coconuts, coffee, cocoa have been cultivated. When we were little, we played with our brothers and sisters .and it was very cool place .It was really a beautiful time .So I thought in this hive friends may not have never seen the true form of these agricultural export crops.
So I thought I would share with you about those agricultural export crops today. So everyone should read the valuable post that I have brought for you today.
🌳So,First let's talk about Nutmeg tree🌳
We can mention this is a very expensive type of spice that is used especially as a medicine and as a food flavoring .Nutmeg is actually a very important agricultural export crop than any other spice.
In Sri Lanka, nutmeg can be easily cultivated in wet and intermediate zones, and in countries like India and Indonesia, nutmeg is widely cultivated.
Our garden has a lot of shade, so these plants are very resistant to our village and this plant needs a lot of shade to be planted in the early season and sunlight is also needed for this plant to bear fruit. These nutmeg trees are very large.
But the branches of these trees are not very strong .
Nutmeg leaves are very simple and have a dark green color.
This is my favorite part of the nutmeg tree. This is the nutmeg flower.
😬😂🌺
When we were children, when this nutmeg flower was under this tree, when we walked under those trees, we used to eat peas from these flowers
This flower is very small and light yellow in color.
This is the most important part of the nutmeg tree, the nutmeg fruit is like this.
The trees I have shown you are full of nutmegs, but they are not ripe enough to pick.
And We are looking forward to cracking these nuts in April next year.
Well-ripened nutmegs take on a deep yellow color like this.
Now I will show you the inside of this nutmeg. When you cut this nut in two, it has a dark brown nut with a dark red net around it.
🌺(before dry)🌺
🌺(after dry)🌺
Now let's cut this dark brown fruit into two again.
You can see that there is something else inside that dark brown nut.
This dark brown bark is like a thick shell.
🌳🌺The white part and red part inside this brown nut is sriLan calVasavasi which is the most important part of nutmeg plant. these two parts very expensive .
🌳🌺Especially this nutmeg is taken to treat stomach problems and indigestion.
🌳Next I'm going to show you what the cloves plant looks like🌳
Like nutmeg, cloves are a very valuable crop. Makulu Island in Indonesia is considered as the homeland of this crop, which is cultivated as a grant in the Matale districts
of Kandy in the middle of Sri Lanka.
My village is also located in Kandy. So it is a crop that is very unique to the area where I live.
In our homes, the cloves are dried and sold to get money..Indeed, the cloves tree is like a money tree😂😂😂😂🌳.
After the cloves are dry, they can be used for various things. Cloves are used especially to make toothpaste, as a food flavoring (meat, malu, biryani), as a medicine, to make pickles, and as a flavoring agent in cigarette making.
🌳The cloves tree is like this.
It consists of a smooth gray bark and is planted upwards in the shape of a cone. It is a medium-sized tree. Generally, well-grown trees are about 15-20 meters high.
Cloves leaf is dark green in color.
Cloves looks like this. We call these as cloves flowers.
Cloves can be grown in any soil conditions, but waterlogged soil is not the most suitable. A well-drained soil is required. Cloves start to grow in dry and wet weather, starting in December. Not suitable for frequent strong wind cloves .
We are hoping to harvest our cloves crop in February. Due to strong winds, cloves harvest can be wasted. Wind hits the branches and falls to the ground
We apply a cover in this way to protect the cloves.
cloves are dry well in the sun. These should be dried well until they turn dark brown in color. Well-dried cloves can last for a year or two without any damage.
