Almost six years ago, I completely cut ties with Zuckerberg's social media apps, and since then, I never looked back or regretted my decision. I had numerous reasons to do so.
Being aware of the collection of personal data, the artificial world created through Facebook and Instagram, and the time wasted on these apps, I saw no reason to continue using them. I deleted my account two days before my birthday, curious to see if any of my friends would notice. Surprisingly, no one did.
Yesterday, while hanging out with a friend in Serbia, we passed by a gym after our meal, and out of curiosity, we decided to check it out and compare it to our local ones. It was decent, nothing remarkable, as one wouldn't expect much from a gym in a small town.
As we spoke to a girl in charge there, she asked for our Instagram accounts to send us more information about the gym's schedule and costs. My friend had an Instagram account, but I only had a Twitter and Hive account to offer.
The girl showed no interest in either of them. Hive is not mainstream yet, and Twitter mostly caters to American users and cryptocurrency enthusiasts. For a moment, I considered opening an Instagram account, but then again, why the fuck would I do that?
Hive has been my digital identity for close to six years. Yeah, I'm that old on this blockchain. Now that Hive is finally expanding into content niches like #threads by and #shorts by @3speak as part of its social media outreach, it would be foolish of me to start dedicating time to Instagram instead of focusing on these two platforms.
WEB2 is destined to fail in the era of blockchain, AI, and crypto. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have a bleak future once people wake up to what the elites have been working on for a while. Censorship? You haven't seen anything yet. Propaganda? Just wait until they unleash AI on that front.
What many fail to realize in the WEB2 vs. WEB3 battle is that no matter how hard WEB2 tries, it will never truly compete with WEB3. If I were a content creator on WEB2, posting the conspiracy shit I regularly do (conspiracies that have turned into realities for the most part), I would have been banned by now. Moreover, I couldn't have made a living for over three years on Facebook and Instagram like I have been able to on Hive.
The tokenization of everything is upon us, and WEB2 has no place in this process. That's why I chose to stick with Hive, despite its undervaluation and the occasional challenges of earning a living through my blogging. In a few years, many of us will be called lucky, but that's bullshit; we're builders.
Hive is my digital identity, and there's no way around that.
