Does it even exist such a #monomadfriday challenge? I really have no clue but I am in the mood of sharing some monomad creations of mine and this time instead of randomly edit photos from my gallery, that usually don't have anything in common one with another I thought I should edit the pics of the medieval fortress of Drobeta Turnu-Severin that I took about one year ago.
A fortress that is about 1000 years old and that has been rebuilt as a touristic attraction, by the mayor of the city, not so long ago. It is located close to the Danube and close to our neighbors, the Serbians, and history hasn't just passed by it. Moreover is one of the few touristic attractions in the area that look European and you can see work has been carried to make them stand.
The following details about the fortress are from a Romanian blog post, so you don't say you have absolutely no clue about what all these pics are about. I have to get soon there again and take some more pics with the inside because it was closed for visitors when I visited it. I'll leave you with this for now.
- The fortress was built in the Middle Ages.
- Its founder was King Ladislaus I (1040-1095).
- It is a historical monument that is part of the National Cultural Heritage - code MH-II-a-A-10184.
- Was built as a fortress against the Pechenegs and Cumans present in the region.
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
