Visit Thaddeus Monastery in West Azerbaijan A historic and very old church, more than 1800 years old
Hello friends, I hope you are well. Today I have prepared new photos of Kara Church, which means black church, because of its shape and appearance.
Thaddeus is one of the apostles who came to the southern region of the Armenian plateau to propagate Christianity. In 66 AD, St.
Thaddeus, along with Sandokht, the king's daughter, and Teni Chand, who had converted to Christianity,
were arrested by the order of the then king of Armenia and tortured and murdered, and St.
Thaddeus was buried in the present place of Dir.
The word "Qarah" is a Turkish word that means "black". Historians of the 8th century AH onwards have sometimes commemorated the church of Thaddeus on an occasion and called it the Kara Church.
We spent hours inside and enjoyed its unique architecture, and the silence around it was unique and relaxing
We had driven a long way to see it, but it was worth it and I'm glad I was able to go see that church.
