Greetings, from the creative doldrums of my mind!
The climate around here usually provides us with something we call the "June Gloom."
It has something to do with daytime heating, the coldness of the Pacific ocean, mountains and cool nights which means that when we wake up in the morning there is a dense fog and even occasional fine drizzle hanging over us.
That's the sun rises further, the fog gradually burns off and usually it becomes a clear day by noon or early afternoon.
Perhaps because it has been unseasonably warm for the past week or so we are having an early version of the June Gloom this year.
Somehow, the gloominess of these mornings seems to match my creative spirit quite well. I just can't get in the mood to create anything. While I can get pretty enthusiastic about things like gardening, when I sit down in my creative space and look at my paints I pretty much draw a blank and I get up and walk away after sitting there for about 10 minutes. Sometimes less.
Maybe this holds true for all creatives, but most of my life I have been plagued by this particular pattern of "creative instability." In a way, it is part of why I have never become a full-time artist. I am not reliable.
However, that does not mean that I don't enjoy my "creative bursts" when they do happen. I'm very grateful for the times when "it" does work.
The thing about it, is it it really affects all aspects of being a creative. It's not just the creating part, itself, but the same can then be applied to things like marketing and publicity. I can get very fired up and active on promotions for a short period of time, but I lack whatever it is that's needed to just keep going day in and day out without fail.
With the project of moving all my existing finished stock to my Etsy shop coming to an end, it also means I am about to start in on the part of the project where regular social media marketing has to start. And that requires a high level of dedication.
We'll see how that turns out...
Thank You!
