Normally, Monday is a reserved for the weekly update on the work I managed to do in the course of the previous seven days. That is to say, the painting work I did.
For the first time since the start of this year, week 11 was basically a big plank goose egg.
The week started with me being gone out of town on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday... followed by Thursday and Friday being entirely dedicated to catching up with the things I missed on the first three days of the week.
When I finally did get some time to sit down and work on things related to my art, most of that time was spent with necessary bookkeeping ahead of income taxes, which are coming up pretty soon... and the rest of the time went into updating a bunch of our image files.
In general, though, I just felt kind of tired and uninspired most of this past week, anyway.
Which brings me to my next point: sometimes the general energy of the world feels kind of uninspiring, and I have not felt all that much like working on things creative since this whole war thing in Iran has started.
I realize the idea of overseas wars are no rarity in this world of ours, but this just seems to have been taking the wind out of my sails; at least the creative winds. As such, I'm giving myself a "hall pass" for this past week and its lack of creative endeavors.
Part of my time was also dedicated to helping my wife prepare a rather substantial amount of work related to a permanent online workshop she is building, that hopefully will help us develop some long-term residual income.
The thing about the creative life is that your time is not always your own... particularly if your creativity is not substantially income producing, which mine is not. I would definitely like for it to be, but there's a lot of work to be done before that's a reality.
Hopefully I will have a little more time this week and we'll be able to get back on track with the weekly painting work and back on track with my ambition to do just "a little bit of creative work every day."
For today, at least, my "creative work" will have to be limited to writing this blog post!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.
