Those of you from Venezuela, like me, know that the electricity situation has gotten WAY worse in recent months. I’d even go so far as to say that those of us living in Caracas are lucky, since I’ve heard that in other states across the country, the power goes out for up to 8 hours—I can’t even imagine that… We’ve been dealing with power dips for days now, and the lights have been going out for minutes at a time. The system is collapsing, and I’m mentally preparing myself for another blackout, which is sure to happen soon. Today, after so many dips, the power finally went out for several hours, so we decided to take a walk around the zoo instead of sitting around bored at home.
Even though it was very sunny, the walk helped pass the time a little faster while we waited for it to get light out. Luckily, the zoo is a convenient and affordable option close to home, though it can be a bit tiring.
Today we’re not focusing on seeing the animals; we’re just going to walk around, sit down in a few spots, and share some strawberries and cream.
We also unexpectedly saw an inflatable mattress near the food court and let our son play on it for a while.
He played until he was exhausted, and since we were already hungry (we hadn't had lunch), we went back home. Luckily, the power came back on just as we were heading to the building, and it hasn't gone out since—though there have been some power dips. This situation is awful; it really is enough to drive you crazy more and more every day.
