It’s been a long time since I last did any digital art; I’ve really had very little time, and as I mentioned before, I’ve also developed a sort of aversion to the computer screen, but this morning I decided to give it another try, and it’s going pretty smoothly… In fact, I came back with a challenge that was pretty difficult for me, because it’s not easy to come up with a combination of different colors. I don’t really remember if I’ve ever done a drawing combining these two shades of red and blue before. Although it’s a combination I wouldn’t normally choose in everyday life, I wanted to try it in a drawing, and I loved it.
I did the sketch, and even though I was afraid to add a hand, I went ahead and did it, haha. It had been a while since I’d painted hands, and they’re not that great, but hands are always a challenge in every way. Then I started painting with the color palette I’d chosen, which in this case consisted mostly of pale, dark, and desaturated blues, with a slightly brighter red right in the center of the face. On a new layer, I added more colors to shape the skin and face, then blended the colors to create a visibly cleaner complexion while still retaining some texture.
I went into a lot of detail on the eyes because I wanted a really intense look, and those red tones make it a little scary—I love it. Then I painted the hair using very dark blues and left some subtle highlights; for the background, I used a light blue and painted some patches with a slightly lighter blue. I wanted to extend the red part of the face toward the background, and I also added a straight line of red. I finished by adding highlights to the face to further emphasize some of the facial features.
