Resulta que aquella vez que hicimos una especie de presa de agua usando cucharas de plástico y palitos de helado nos trajo a este día, el proyecto de ciencias de mi hijo fue seleccionado como uno de los “mejores” asi que eso implicaba que haría una presentación en frente de varias personas, me sentía mas nerviosa yo que él, admiro la tranquilidad que tenia y eso me gusta, quizás se le olvidaron algunas palabras en el momento pero en general se desenvolvió muy bien.
It turns out that the time we built a makeshift dam using plastic spoons and popsicle sticks led us to this day. My son’s science project was selected as one of the “best,” which meant he would have to give a presentation in front of a group of people. I was more nervous than he was; I admire how calm he was, and I like that. Maybe he forgot a few words in the moment, but overall he did very well.
Yo nunca había ido a una feria de ciencias y fue bastante interesante ver los experimentos de los demás niños, aunque me lo imagine bastante diferente como en las películas jajaa, pero fue muy distinto a eso digamos que el ambiente estaba bastante aburrido… Aun asi me quede bastante tiempo allí viendo los trabajos de todos.
I had never been to a science fair before, and it was pretty interesting to see the other kids' experiments, even though I had imagined it to be quite different—like in the movies, haha—but it was actually very different from that. Let's just say the atmosphere was pretty dull… Even so, I stayed there for quite a while looking at everyone's projects.
Bueno, a pesar de todo estoy bastante orgullosa de mi hijo, presento su experimento con mi ayuda ya que sinceramente era bastante complicado ubicar bien los elementos para hacer funcionar la presa, me puse muy nerviosa y ansiosa en ese momento, fue como revivir la escuela para mi y eso es bastante traumante jajaja. Después de que mi hijo termino su presentación volvió al salón de clases y yo me quede un buen rato allí, hasta que me canse y me fui a casa.
Well, despite everything, I’m actually pretty proud of my son. He presented his experiment with my help because, honestly, it was pretty tricky to position the parts correctly to get the dam to work. I got really nervous and anxious at that moment—it was like reliving my own school days, and that’s pretty traumatic, ha ha ha. After my son finished his presentation, he went back to the classroom, and I stayed there for quite a while, until I got tired and went home.
