Some would argue that the world has never been more socially-connected through the rise of the internet and social media platforms that keep people in continual contact with those around them and across the world.
Others may hold to the belief that whilst we have access to so many people, the ability to reach into people's lives so easily, we have never been more disconnected.
Are people losing their ability to communicate effectively; To converse face-to-face or person to person...Or is text message communication simply becoming the new reality...Two people sitting on a park bench conversing with each other via text message is something I've seen happen.
I'm not on social media, neither do I text message much other than to shoot quick messages back and forth; It's not my primary method of communication. So many rely upon it though, and upon social media apps to communicate and gather their information...And to gain their opinions as it seems there's always someone happy to blast their opinion out there...Whether it's true, false or otherwise, and no shortage of people to take it on board because they heard it on Facebook.
I wonder if the rise of texting, social media and online communications are indeed improving communication or is in in fact building walls around individuals and rather than improving communications is indeed reducing people's ability, or need, to seek their own truths.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something. - Plato.
