It doesn't ever come back around...The river...It flows only one way on its journey, much like life and the passing of time. That also only goes one way also and, as much as we may like there to be, there are no do-overs.
We all have choices to make in our lives, most which will impact positively or negatively...Stand still and watch life float away uninterrupted and uninfluenced or move along with it taking an active role. Each individual must make choices on what may be right for them, or the choice to stand idle and watch life pass them by...A choice in itself of course.
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.” ― Theodore Roosevelt
I agree with the above quote; It makes a lot of sense but also at the same time seems a little ambiguous. The right thing...What actually is that? How do we know, in the moment, that the decision we come to is the right thing? We don't have the benefit of hindsight at that point.
Maybe President Roosevelt meant the right thing based on the information to hand. That sounds much more achievable. Naturally though, in doing so, the decision may in time be exposed as the wrong thing, or at the very least not the opportune decision...And what then? Hindsight brings the ability to make different choices and gaining it through doing something, making choices, and possibly suffering failure is probably preferable to doing nothing.
A do-over? No, a chance to make different decisions based on new information...And to keep moving along the journey of life.
Do something | Choose choice | Move forward
