Dear readers, it is no secret that agricultural producers are responsible for the production of food to feed a population that is constantly growing, but that is not the end of the story. In order to become efficient agricultural enterprises, agricultural production units must maintain production in accordance with the needs of their locality and, in addition, seek mechanisms that allow them to sell the products they generate and thus obtain sufficient income to maintain their farms.
Oil palm fruit, essential raw material for edible oil production
In this sense, Castellano (2000) points out that, in order to achieve farm efficiency from a financial point of view, not only is good crop management required, but it is also necessary to implement an efficient and effective marketing system that generates adequate income from the production of goods sold to the consumer, after deducting the marketing costs and production costs of the production unit.
To achieve the aforementioned, according to the criteria of some specialists in the area, together with my opinion, some important decisions must be made, which will be reflected below: |
|---|
- What can be produced on the farm?
The producer must produce those crops that are demanded by consumers. To do so, production must be planned based on the prices that exist in the market, how much it costs to produce and how easy it will be to market the product.
- When and where to sell agricultural products?
As it is known, throughout the year there are various climatic changes depending on the area and crops adapt to different conditions, for this reason the producer must take into account what is the best time to market the product and in addition, determine what is the most appropriate market to sell their product, if you have means of mobilization will have a range of options.
- What can be done to stay in the market?
Of course, as in any other market, the most important thing is to know the tastes of the consumer, this will allow making the right decision on what product can be sold, because there is the possibility that the same producer can process the raw material obtained on the farm and transform it into a product that is to the taste of a large number of consumers, likewise advertising is important to publicize what is being produced and today through social networks it is easier to reach the consumer.

Dear readers, nowadays there are many channels through which the agricultural producer can make his agricultural products known, for this, making a prior diagnosis of the market will have great advantages, technology has had great advances, therefore, the producer must be a fundamental ally of this technology and break with the old paradigms, which, although they may be effective, possibly do not accelerate the positioning of the products in the market.
