Yesterday I finally received the awaited call from the bicycle mechanic to let me know that my bike was ready to be picked up. I must admit that the three day wait had felt eternal and I was anxiously looking forward to that contact.
The mechanic is a person who demonstrates professionalism and dedication when examining and repairing bicycles. Also, he seems to always be very busy, because when I dropped mine off there were at least 5 bikes ahead of it in the waiting line. So it seemed to me that spoke well of the customer flow that his shop has.
At the moment of picking up my bike, he performed a routine inspection in front of me and explained some details. He recommended making some slight adjustments to the front disc brake if I wanted to better modulate the braking. He also mentioned that the gear system shows signs of wear and might require replacement soon.
But in general, I was very satisfied with the results of the maintenance performed. As soon as I picked it up, I went out to take a short ride around a nearby park to test it out. It responded wonderfully.
Now I just await the right moment to go out and cover longer distances. I know it will be quite a personal challenge, after several months of low physical activity and recovering from minor surgery a few weeks ago.
I have great expectations, with various urban and some mountain routes that I want to explore. Hopefully the weather favors me since it's been rainy days around these latitudes lately.

Bici lista
Ayer finalmente recibí la esperada llamada del mecánico de bicicletas para avisarme que mi bici estaba lista para ser retirada. Debo admitir que la espera de tres días se me había hecho eterna y aguardaba ansioso ese contacto.
El mecánico es una persona que demuestra profesionalismo y dedicación al examinar y reparar las bicicletas. Además, parece estar siempre muy ocupado, pues cuando llevé la mía había al menos 5 bicis estaban antes en la fila de espera. Entonces me pareció que eso hablaba bien del flujo de clientes que tiene su taller.
Al momento de retirar mi bici, realizó frente a mí una inspección de rutina y me explicó algunos detalles. Me recomendó hacer unos ligeros ajustes al freno delantero de disco si deseaba graduar mejor la frenada. También mencionó que el sistema de cambios muestra señales de desgaste y podría requerir reemplazo próximamente.
Pero en general, quedé muy satisfecho con los resultados del mantenimiento realizado. Tan pronto como la retiré, salí a dar una breve rodada por un parque cercano para probarla. Respondió de maravilla.
Ahora solo espero el momento oportuno para salir a recorrer distancias más largas. Sé que será todo un desafío personal, luego de varios meses de poca actividad física y de recuperarme de una pequeña cirugía menor hace unas semanas.
Tengo grandes expectativas, con varias rutas urbanas y algo de montaña que deseo explorar. Ojalá el clima me favorezca ya que han sido días lluviosos por estas latitudes.
