Guanyin de Nanshan/Guanyin from Nanshan
Es una estatua de 108 metros, ubicada en Hainan, China. Representa al bodhisattva Guanyin. La estatua tiene tres caras, uno que mira hacia el interior y los otros dos hacia el mar de China meridional.
It's a 108-meter statue, located in Hainan, China. It represents the Guanyin bodhisattva. The statue has three faces, one facing inland and the other two facing the South China Sea.
Una cara muestra a Guanyin sosteniendo un sutra en la mano izquierda, realizando el Vitaraka Mudra (un gesto propio de las religiones como el hinduismo o budismo) con la derecha. La segunda cara, lo muestra con las palmas cruzadas, sosteniendo una cadena de cuentas de oración, y el tercero sosteniendo un loto. La estatua fue hecha para simbolizar la protección y bendición sobre China y sobre todo el mundo.
One face shows Guanyin holding a sutra in his left hand, performing the Vitaraka Mudra (a gesture typical of religions such as Induism or Buddhism) with his right. The second face shows him with his palms crossed, holding a chain of prayer beads, and the third holding a lotus. The statue was made to symbolize the protection and blessing on China and on the whole world.

Sendai Daikanon
Esta impresionante estatua esta ubicada en Sendai, en Japón, y tiene una altura de 100 metros. La gente puede tener acceso al interior de la estatua que se divide en 12 etapas. Dentro de ella puede verse las 108 estatuas consagradas de Buda.
This impressive statue is located in Sendai, in Japan, and has a height of 100 meters. People can access the interior of the statue that is divided into 12 stages. Inside you can see the 108 consecrated statues of Buddha.
Al acceder a un ascensor, los visitantes pueden llegar a la parte más alta (un mirador) y disfrutar de las hermosas vistas urbanas de Sendai y el océano pacifico.

Hokkaido Kannon
Con 88 metros, era la estatua más alta del mundo al momento de su inauguración en 1989, sin embargo ahora es la tercera más grande de Japón y la décima más grande del mundo.
At 88 meters, it was the largest statue in the world at the time of its inauguration in 1989, but it's now the third largest in Japan and the tenth largest in the world.
La estatua tiene acceso al interior donde cuenta con más de 20 pisos y 8 lugares de culto y santuarios, además de una plataforma que brinda una hermosa vista panorámica.

Este coloso está ubicado en la ciudad Volgogrado (antigua Stalingrado) Rusia. Es la representación de la Patria que llama a sus soldados a la lucha, y se erigió como conmemoración de la batalla de Stalingrado, la cual vencieron los rusos.
This colossus is located in the city Volgograd (former Stalingrad) Russia. It's the representation of the Homeland that calls its soldiers to fight, and it was erected as a commemoration of the Battle of Stalingrad, which the Russians won.
Mide 87 metros de altura desde la punta de la espada hasta la base. Desde el inicio del camino que conduce a la estatua, hasta llegar a ella, hay 200 pasos como símbolo a los 200 días que duró la férrea batalla de Stalingrado.

La estatua de la unidad/The statue of unity
Actualmente es la estatua más grande del mundo con 182 metros de altura, más 58 metros de su base, lo que nos da un total de 240 metros de altura. Está ubicada en India.

Gran indignación se ha ceñido en torno a esta estatua pues, al parecer, para la construcción de la estructura, unas 185 familias (grupos tribales con estatus de protección especial) fueron expulsadas de sus hogares y sin siquiera recibir una compensación adecuada. Otros lamentan el desperdicio colosal de dinero público, pues la estatua costó alrededor de 420 millones de dólares.
Great indignation has been gathered around this statue because, apparently, for the construction of the structure, some 185 families (tribal groups with special protection status) were expelled from their homes and without even receiving adequate compensation. Others lament the colossal waste of public money as the statue cost around $ 420 million.
