The Earth, I heard, without 'art' is just 'eh'.
My name is Charmaine, but a simple resident of this Earth. And for the most part, I too am just an 'eh'. Only to the too few, my favorite people, does the word art come to life.
But before you get into any conclusion, let me clarify that I am not an artist.
I am, however, pretty artsy.
(Say hello to Social-Media-Me)
Art, in its broadest sense, is a beautiful form of communication. It means what you want it to mean.
Let me walk you through to the different avenues of art that define the 21 years of my existence. The various forms of communication that make this 'eh' of life, worth living.
The first of many, I studied Culinary Arts. That's the threshold for me to craftsmanship.
But the most important art in my life, is the noble art of teaching.
I was a little over 6 when I first read about this "Great Teacher" - An unselfish man of righteous legacy.
Ever since then, in my young mind, I knew that I want to follow his footsteps.
But the secular world took away that young mind in me. I got absorbed into its system and the blind determination of making a name for my own.
Little did I realize that, much as I did the contrary, that Great Teacher kept a keen eye on me. And although rather undeserved, he paved a way for our little reunion.
And so, with the help of a few more books, I got to know him more. And on one February 15, I decided to begin an era of nobility - to be, maybe not great, but a good teacher.
I loved teaching and speaking to people of wisdom worth everything one can ever own. But I figured, there is an audience out there sitting in silence and not the loudest message can ever reach them.
That's when I discovered that my hands could talk.
This is the other Art that holds half of my heart - The art of language. I'm very fascinated with wordplay and communication. And when I learned sign language, I heard a bigger world that surpasses the ear. It was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me.
Of course, the next art is the Art of expression.
Now I hold a bit of pride when I say I can dance, paint and take photos.
But when I say I can sing, that is when I lose all my credibility. Some people get lost in jungles, some in translation but as for me, I can never be found when amidst tune and timing. I gave up with that. Singing is my greatest frustration.
Of all the things I've disclosed, here's one that I really want to talk about - the Art of getting by.
Because life, as we know it, is full of lemons and having someone to make lemonades with you makes everything a whole lot easier.
I discovered that there are more practical ways to get those Endorphin and Serotonin kicking. And I am more than glad to share those to the community. So when the nights are long and the monsters are awake, I hope you'll remember to visit my blog posts. You are not alone.
Let's work together in the pursuit of happiness, Friends.
Have I also mentioned I like writing? But I guess you be the judge of that. :)
