Hello Hivians 😊
Guess what?
I attended a marriage ceremony on Friday,a traditional marriage ceremony. It was my Aunty's Traditional marriage. One thing about a marriage ceremony is that it brings family home; during the ceremony, every one was so joyful, there was a lot of food I sure had a lot of fun.
Early in the morning on Friday, after the morning prayers at the family house, everyone started to prepare for the traditional marriage, drinks had been bought the previous day and the food was cooked early in the morning at the groom's family house. After everything was put in place, the bride got dressed. She looked beautiful in her maroon wrapper gown, she was made up and her hair was so gorgeous, the groom also got dressed in his family house.
After everyone got dressed, we got prepared to move for the ceremony.
The venue of the traditional marriage was very close to the house,we all got there, in the Ibibio tribe in Nigeria, food is always served first before every other thing. The visitors ate till they were satisfied.Few minutes after we arrived the venue, rain started to fall.
I was really surprised when the guest stayed put,the rain fell for two hours and it seemed it wasn't going to stop because it was really heavy,we waited and waited and finally the rain stopped.
When the rain stopped it was time to bring out the bride and the groom.
The groom is always the first to be brought out,he is usually accompanied by his family, friends and well-wishers with a song and a dance. After the groom was brought out, the bride was brought out the same way,she really danced , so did the groom.
After the couple was brought out, they danced to their seats, money was raised for them and they went to each of their parents to for blessings, after that, the wedding gifts were presented to them and pictures were taken.
It was a huge success.
I wish my Aunty, a happy married life 💕.
