Christine was always criticized because she surrounded herself only with men, her best friends have always been men, and being a woman in a macho society, is something very badly seen, however, she had her reasons for things to be like that. When she was in college dating August, she had a best friend, Gabrielle, she met her in college as well as August, and they soon became friends and even confidants.

At first, Gabrielle was the only one who knew about how she felt about August, and she always told him not to trust him, that he didn't look completely sincere, deep down Christine knew that August wasn't looking for the same thing as her in the relationship, but what she never imagined was that when Gabrielle told her not to trust him, she meant that she was the one he was cheating on her with, when August and Christine made their relationship public, they always went out to parties with their university friends, and clearly Gabrielle could never be absent, she was their best friend.
Suspicions were heightened when Gabrielle called to say she was waiting for her at August's house, they lived a couple of streets away from each other, Christine always wondered why wait for me there and not come directly for me? - She always carefully observed Gabrielle's looks at August and even her gestures, and they were always something that denoted more than just a friendship, I think the naivety of her age didn't make her understand everything very clearly, but a woman's sixth sense never fails, she suspected there was something else and wouldn't rest until she discovered what it was.
She knew that it was already Gabrielle's custom to wait for her at August's house when they were going out or when they were going to the university, so one day she decided not to wait for her to call him but, she went to August's house first, she arrived by surprise but the surprise was taken away by her, when she found Gabrielle in August's room, it was something very strange, because they did nothing wrong, but the fright of them seeing her and the mere fact that they were both in the room left a lot to the imagination of that young woman.
At that moment he decided to play dumb, and pretend nothing had happened, he did this same operation a few times and it was always the same surprised face in both of them when she appeared, in the end, August was unfaithful with another one, at least that another girl was not his friend and he was not going to deny him what was happening.
The truth is that he never managed to discover anything that really proved Christine's suspicions, however, neither did he trust both of them again as he did one day, he continued his friendship with Gabrielle and to this day he does, but it was never the same, and the saddest thing about it is that it wouldn't be the first time he would have to live through the betrayal of a friend.
