During this lockdown season, suddenly there's a new HIVE blockchain, but it does not have my old friend in it due to some airdrop mistake. The last I saw her activity, she started to delete comment and posts in the old fork. It is sad, as one of our last conversation was about shoes hoarding. How I wish she's here to read my post on what is going to happened after the fork.
My long time follower would have known I'm a big fan of Vibram FiveFingers. This is my KSO-Evo, I used it for indoor training. It's a gift from my friend TK Foo, and it's been with me several years now.
The rubber base used to be very flexible and elastic, but not anymore nowadays. It started breaking apart and the glue is no longer attaching the rubber with the shoe sols. Buying a pair of FiveFingers can be very expensive in my country considering the exchange ratio is more then 1:4. Having said that a pair of these indoor shoe is about $100, which means I will have to fork out 440 just to replace a pair of shoe. Which I consider it as a huge commitment.
Aside from the shoe, the five fingers socks is also a big problem as we don't normally find it anywhere at the mall. I got this particularly from DAISO JAPAN. A pair of this will only cost me RM5.80, that's like $1.25 which is rather affordable. But all that, is going to change. The shoes may last a little longer, but the socks is losing it's grip as you can see the neck of the sock is loosen. If I can't go to Daiso and get a few more pair of these socks, I will not be able to wear the shoes.
My other pair of outdoor FiveFingers, which also being with me for thousand kilometers I believe. And guess what, it's also a gift from my friend TK Foo. I really thank him from deep down of my heart.
The toes are slowly fading away. I need to be extremely careful now when I go for morning walk/jog going uphill. I don't need to step on a nail, a slightly bigger rock will punch a hole in my toe if I'm not being careful.
The decorative and reflective stripes are slowly peeling off. I've been using this pair of outdoor shoes very carefully and to avoid running in the rain most of the time.
Rubber at the hind foot area has been grind to the bottom and can see the outer sole already. On the other hand, take a closer look at the middle foot VIBRAM badge being grind away, that shows how flat my foot is.
I'm grateful to have these beautiful and very minimalist shoes with me for the past few years, but I think it's about time to say good bye after they expire. I think I'm just going to go to the sport shop and get myself a pair of indoor training shoe that does not require me to get "special" kind of socks.
It is the must have shoe for flat foot guy like myself. It's the kind of "faster" shoe when I jog, it's the kind of good for knees when doing jumps. Magically, our toes works like some a unique instrument that keeping us balance. Try to feel your toes more often, and you'll understand how powerful FiveFingers are. I guess it will be a long time I will not see another pair of FiveFingers unless I can really afford spending for it rather than asking my friend to buy on behalf and in the end he send it to me as a gift.
This lockdown season, it literally changed a lot of things in me, things that I value most are now less important. These fingers shoes for example. It's a nice to have, it's a good to have, but I can always workout without even having a pair of shoe. So it got me thinking, why would I really need it. If I don't, I know I just wanted some sort of "comfort" to my feet when I'm working out. I can get myself a pair of good training shoe at half the price I believe.
Thanks for reading and I hope I will be able to share with you when they're done and I'm going to get only 1 pair for indoor training, but will be a budget kind of training shoes.
