What's buzzing, friends!
In the Golden Age of Piracy, many things happened - a lot of people got hurt, some got killed, and many ships met their doom. Pirates have been a hot topic for many years. Rumors swirl of hidden treasure. Tales of lost ships and buried treasure are passed around like campfire stories. In fact, there are still many treasures yet to be found.
Pirates were the black sheep of society in the 1700's, but they had a lot of great things going for them. They were more virtuous than a lot of modern-day people. In fact, during the height of the Golden Age of Piracy, pirate ships provided their crew a version of workmen’s compensation. So if a pirate was hurt on the job, they would still receive benefits. WOW (*That is better than most jobs today). Beyond this, they also provided a way for black slaves to have freedom, in a time when that was not the case.
Ultimately, pirates should be celebrated by today’s people because they were ultimately working toward a better future for those who worked with them. If we are to learn anything from the pirates of the 17th and 18th centuries, it should be that the traditional social and economic systems are not always perfect. In fact, these systems often breed poverty, ruin economies and create a place where crime flourishes. Although pirates were committing crimes, their moral compass was pointing toward a better future for everyone.
