Yesterday, I went on two very short walks and I'll be showing photos from my second walk which was at the Little Gunpowder Falls by Harford Road and on the Harford County, Maryland side.
My husband and I have driven by this spot many times but never stopped until today. We have walked almost up to this spot from Belair Road in Baltimore County though.
We were on a time schedule as he had to help his father with something and since he had to make a phone call, I did the second short walk alone while he stayed in the truck to make his call. He did caution me to not take the upper trail as there was a tree hanging over it and it looked a bit sketchy. No problem as I like to be closer to the water..lol.
That is why the walk was very short as well since the trail leading down to the water was a very short one.
This is the bridge that we drove over to get here and this side of the water is Harford County and the opposite side of the water is Baltimore County.
It rained overnight and although it was cloudy today, with rain in the forcast, the sun made an appearance which really brought out some nice reflections on the water.
It was right around this time that I heard wood cracking from that tree hanging over the trail. I guess it was good that I didn't take that other trail. 😏
I was happy seeing this area anyway! Our first walk was quite muddy but this spot was more sandy-ish and not muddy at all.
When I took this next photo, I found myself staring at this spot. It was just something about it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Maybe the reflection in the water was playing tricks on my eyes.
I still found it fascinating and I turned the photo to see what looks like a totem pole. Let me know if you can see it too and if not then..well..carry on...
You know, I didn't walk under that broken tree but I did stand just under this leaning tree. Hmm, maybe I should not be tempting fate.
After taking this photo, I spotted some lichens on a fallen tree.
Even better was that the tree had lichens and moss!
When I turned around and looked up, I spotted some red berries in a tree. They were high up so I reckoned that the deer weren't able to get to them.
Those berries weren't the only red colors I spied! I also found some wild rose vines (I think) that had some pretty leaves on them.
More water! It made a soothing sound as it swirled around.
This is my last photo (no really it is) and I realized that I had been out here for a while and the clouds were back so I made my way back to the truck. Still had to stop at Tractor Supply to pick up some pet food and meet up with the in-laws! Btw, I was jolted awake this morning by a massive headache but between the excedrin that I took and taking a couple of short walks in nature, my headache was just about gone! 😉
Thank you for #wednesdaywalk!!
