When I was active as a university teacher, I remember that I used that word continuously, and not only to say the word, but to exercise the very act of silence, because as we know when one is teaching, the most important thing is that the students are attentive and pay close attention, especially the subjects I taught, which if you will is one where the students have many difficulties, especially because the base they should have from high school, is very little, but sometimes it is nonexistent in new students, so the silence in those cases by the students was very important.

So in reality this silence is so effective that when I was explaining it seemed that there was no one, but in reality there were classrooms with up to 40 students many times, but the attention was generalized, so in that aspect I cannot complain because the necessary silence was realized.

Also, many times we need a lot of silence to concentrate on the solution of a problem that may be personal or that has to do with our professional work, because it is like meeting with oneself, in our thoughts and in the possible alternatives that come to our mind.

Being silent when other people are talking is very important because it allows us to pay close attention to the words that are being said, which allows us to make the necessary analysis.

Another moment that I consider important silence is the moment when I go to sleep, because for me the fact that everything is silent is the right time to fall asleep, because with a lot of noise I think it would be impossible for me to fall asleep, so I consider that silence is very important on many occasions.

There is a saying or a word that says that it is necessary to know how to keep silence, what does this mean, that we must have enough capacity to keep silence in certain occasions, as there is another saying that says that in closed mouth no flies enter, for the same reason that I said before we must have the necessary intelligence to know when in certain occasions it is necessary to keep silence.

Cuando estaba activa como docente universitaria, recuerdo que esa palabra la usaba continuamente, y no solamente decir la palabra, sino hacer ejercer el acto mismo del silencio, porque como sabemos cuándo uno está dando clases, lo más importante es que los muchachos estén atentos y presten mucha atención, sobre todo las materias que daba, que si se quiere es una donde los muchachos presentan muchas dificultades, sobre todo porque la base que deberían tener del bachillerato, es muy poco, pero a veces es inexistente en los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso, por lo cual el silencio en esos casos por parte de los estudiantes era muy importante.

Entonces en realidad ese silencio se hace tan efectivo que cuando estaba explicando parecía que no había nadie, pero en realidad eran aulas con hasta 40 estudiantes muchas veces, pero la atención era generalizada, por lo cual en ese aspecto no puedo quejarme porque sí se realizaba el silencio necesario.

También muchas veces nosotros requerimos de mucho silencio para concentrarnos en la solución de alguna problemática que puede ser personal o también que tenga que ver con nuestra labor profesional, porque es como encontrarse con uno mismo, en sus pensamientos y en las alternativas posibles que se nos vienen a la mente.

Hacer silencio cuando otras personas están hablando es muy importante porque ello nos permite prestar mucha atención a las palabras que se dicen, lo cual nos da luego realizar el análisis que sea necesario.

Otro momento que considero importante el silencio es el momento cuando voy a dormir, porque para mí el hecho de que todo esté en silencio es el momento oportuno para conciliar el sueño, ya que con mucha bulla creo se me haría imposible agarrar el sueño, por lo cual considero que el silencio es muy importante en muchas ocasiones.

Existe un refrán o una palabra que dice que hay que saber guardar silencio, que quiere decir esto, que nosotros debemos tener la suficiente capacidad para en ciertas ocasiones lo mejor es guardar silencio, como existe otro refrán que dice que en boca cerrada no entran moscas, por lo mismo que dije anteriormente tenemos que tener la inteligencia necesaria para saber cuándo en ciertas ocasiones es necesario mejor hacer silencio.

Recuerdo en una de esas tantas ocasiones que visitamos la finca de un hermano y nos quedábamos allí por varios días, pues en las noches el silencio en los alrededores era muy contundente y nosotros nos poníamos a echar chistes y cuentos cada uno desde donde estábamos acostados, que era un gran corredor donde colgábamos las hamacas y pues nos oíamos como si estuviéramos unos frente a los otros, pero se debía al silencio de la noche y alejados del pueblo más cercano.

Sin duda algunas veces ese silencio podía intimidar a alguien, pero generalmente cuando íbamos a quedarnos en ese sitio, pues era un grupo bastante grande que nos movilizábamos en dos camionetas para precisamente contrarrestar la soledad y silencio de la noche, ya que, en el día, pues la bulla de las gallinas, guineos, pavo real, además de los corderos y el ganado vacuna que sí se encontraba más alejado de la casa.

Por lo cual reitero nuevamente que el hecho de hacer silencio cuando no los piden, o cuando sea necesario nosotros realizarlo por nuestra cuenta, tiene su importancia, por lo cual no siempre el hacer silencio es malo como ya lo expliqué.
