Breezeway Visitor 12x16 acrylic 2021
Hi GEMS community,
Here is my most recent painting, called Breezeway Visitor. It represents an exploration of tonal values, with a slight twist. I briefly considered turning this into an experiment with colored glaze over top of this grayscale scene, but ultimately decided to leave it as is. Reference used is from my own collection, taken with my iPhone 8 Plus earlier this year.
Sometimes when I'm out in the world it's easy to imagine myself experiencing a weird occurrence, like suddenly seeing a normal dog walker that's actually not so normal.
Many years ago I worked the early morning shift, starting at 4 AM. It was usually very quiet outside when I got to work. But some mornings the wind would make that distinctive clanging sound on the flagpole and I would imagine being the only human left on an earth overrun by zombies.
It was like hearing that sound while I walked alone across the dark parking lot triggered the start of an imaginary movie scene.
Do you ever have weird moments like that? 😆
I wasn't feeling well earlier this week, so it's great to squeeze in another post before 2021 is over!
Thanks for reading 📚
Until next time y'all,
