He tomado un paseo breve por mi recuerdos al volver a reconectarme con lugares donde muchas veces estuve junto a mis ancestros, era como ver mis recuerdos pasar en mi memoria como una película, gratificante, reconfortante, conmovedora y llena de paz.
Imagino que el mismo sentimiento tendrán todos aquellos que han de volver a su tierra alguna vez producto de la gran migración y hay que ser muy empáticos con ese sentir, es tan necesario volver a sentir olores, sabores y todo lo que nos es familiar para sentir la seguridad que pudimos estar ajenos por un tiempo.
La Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen, si mis cálculos no son tan malos creo que fue fundada en el año 1956, era muy niña ya con la edad de 9 años puedo decir que crecí y estuve siempre en esa iglesia, entre otras, perteneciente al grupo de canto, siempre estuve conectada con mi espiritualidad. Está situada en Palo Negro, estado Aragua frente a la plaza Bolívar.
Hoy estuvo cerrada, pero es muy hermosa por dentro, amo sentarme un rato frente al sagrario, orar y sentir la calma y la paz del lugar.

I have taken a brief stroll down memory lane as I reconnected with places where I often spent time with my ancestors; it was like watching my memories unfold in my mind like a film – rewarding, comforting, moving and full of peace.
I imagine that all those who are due to return to their homeland at some point as a result of the great migration will feel the same way, and we must be very empathetic towards that feeling; it is so necessary to experience the smells, tastes and everything that is familiar to us again in order to feel the security that we may have been away from for a while.
The Church of Our Lady of Carmen – if my calculations are not too far off, I believe it was founded in 1956 – was there when I was just a little girl; at the age of 9, I can say that I grew up and was always in that church, amongst others, as a member of the choir; I was always connected to my spirituality. It is situated in Palo Negro, Aragua state, opposite Bolívar Square.
It was closed today, but it is very beautiful inside; I love sitting for a while in front of the tabernacle, praying and feeling the calm and peace of the place.

Por lo general, la iglesia y la plaza son lugares muy concurridos, generalmente las personas se sientan en los alrededores de la plaza a descansar o sentir la paz y el fresco del lugar, tambien es muy visitado por los estudiantes cuando salen de sus clases.
La plaza a sufrido muchas remodelaciones desde entonces, no se parece en nada a aquellos tiempos de mi niñez donde había una gran fuente y muchos árboles grandes.
Mientras que la iglesia se a mantenido fiel a su estilo colonial.
No tienen idea de cómo amo compartir los registros de mi memoria.

Generally speaking, the church and the square are very busy places; people usually sit around the square to rest or to enjoy the peace and coolness of the spot, and it is also very popular with students when they finish their lessons.
The square has undergone many renovations since then; it bears no resemblance to the days of my childhood, when there was a large fountain and many big trees.
Meanwhile, the church has remained true to its colonial style.

Estas son algunas placas de reconocimiento que se encuentran frente a la iglesia y la plaza.
Desde que tengo memoria casi siempre ha sido elegido el mismo Alcalde y este se preocupa porque estos lugares se mantengan bonitos, , limpios como patrimonio del municipio, así como incentivar las fiestas patronales todo lo que es cultura.
Desde entonces, muchos curas (sacerdotes) han pasado por este lugar, recuerdo uno en especial que a mis padres les gustaba mucho, ya era anciano en aquel entonces y le decían Padre Benito (1986)

These are some commemorative plaques located in front of the church and the square.
For as long as I can remember, the same mayor has almost always been elected, and he takes great care to ensure that these places remain attractive and clean as part of the town’s heritage, as well as promoting the local festivals and all aspects of culture.
Since then, many priests have passed through here; I remember one in particular whom my parents liked very much. He was already an elderly man at the time, and they called him Father Benito (1986).

Recuerdo en aquellos tiempos (1986) que esta iglesia tenia una gran campana que los monaguillos se encargaban de tocar cada hora, también tenían un órgano antiguo que acompañaba al grupo de canto (antes de yo entrar)
Con el tiempo la campana dejó de sonar y empezaron a colocar grabación de campanas. Ahora la parte alta donde estaba la misma, no está.
Por lo demás se mantiene intacto, sus puertas de madera de roble y sus ventanas principales, también en el resto sus mosaicos.
Espero les gustara el recorrido, un breve paseo por mis recuerdos en el mundo actual.

I remember back in those days (1986) that this church had a large bell which the altar boys used to ring every hour; they also had an old organ that accompanied the choir (before I joined).
Over time, the bell stopped ringing and they started playing a recording of bells. Now the upper section where it used to be is gone.
Otherwise, it remains intact: its oak doors and main windows, as well as the mosaics throughout the rest of the building.
