I want to share with you a repair and painting project of a white car that came to my workplace to correct 2 struck parts

friend, this time I will show you the process that we had to carry out to repair the front bumper and the right side footboard of a car
Así es amigo en esta oportunidad les mostraré el proceso que tuvimos que realizar para reparar el parachoques delantero y el estribo del lado derecho de un automóvil
The objective of this project is to leave the car completely impeccable so that it can look like new again. This is one more challenge for the team that my partner and I make up. If you want to see how it was, stay until the end

First of all let me show you the blows that the car has

some blows that at first glance seem quite simple to repair but each one of them has a different process which is going to take us a long time to do
unos golpes que a simple vista parecen bastante simple de reparar pero cada uno de ellos lleva un proceso diferente qué nos va a tomar mucho tiempo realizarlo
because in the case of the bumper we have to completely disassemble the part to repair it in a much more comfortable way, paint it and then reassemble it
pues en el caso el parachoques tenemos que desmontar la pieza totalmente para repararlo de una manera mucho más cómoda pintarlo y luego volverlo a ensamblar
To start this new project, the first thing we did was remove the front bumper
para dar inicio a este nuevo proyecto lo primero que hicimos fue desmontar el parachoques delantero
So, to move forward in a much faster way, we divided the work between me and my partner. for my part I am in charge of the blow that has the stirrup on the right side and my partner will be in charge of repairing the defect that has the front bumper
Entonces, para avanzar de una manera mucho más rápida, dividimos el trabajo entre mi compañero y yo. Por mi parte, estoy a cargo del golpe que tiene el estribo en el lado derecho y mi compañero se encargará de reparar el defecto que tiene el parachoques delantero
So, the first thing I did was put a piece of cardboard to cover the doors to protect them, since I need to use emery to peel the piece where the blow is and leave the bare metal
Entonces, lo primero que hice fue colocar un trozo de cartón para cubrir las puertas para protegerlas, ya que necesito usar esmeril para pelar la pieza donde está el golpe y dejar el metal desnudo
After this, I use the emery to start removing the entire area where the blow is located, the reason I do this is because I am going to use a special weld to remove this blow and I need to have bare metal to be able to weld
Después de esto, uso el esmeril para comenzar a eliminar toda el área donde se encuentra el golpe, la razón por la que hago esto es porque voy a usar una soldadura especial para eliminar este golpe y necesito tener metal desnudo para poder soldar
after this it was time to start using a mentioned machine, this machine is called spotter and it is a machine that works by localized welding
después de esto, era hora de comenzar a usar una máquina mencionada, esta máquina se llama spotter y es una máquina que funciona mediante soldadura localizada
So now is the time to start the straightening process
Así que ahora es momento de iniciar con el proceso de enderezado
The first thing I did was to weld small pieces to the place where the protrusion was and the reason is so that I can use a tool that allows me to do backwards and in that way be able to take out the blow
Lo primero que hice fue soldar pequeñas piezas en el lugar donde estaba la protuberancia y la razón es que puedo usar una herramienta que me permita hacer hacia atrás y de esa manera poder sacar el golpe
Little by little and several attempts the progress is seen, it is a process that takes about 30 minutes because you have to be welding then to pull then re-weld and it is quite methodical
Poco a poco y en varios intentos se ve el progreso, es un proceso que lleva unos 30 minutos porque hay que soldar, luego tirar y volver a soldar, y es bastante metódico
And after this we can clearly see the result of the process. Now it looks much better, although of course it is not completely finished, but we will solve that in a short time with the putty
Y luego de esto podemos ver claramente el resultado del proceso. Ahora se ve mucho mejor aunque por supuesto no está terminado completamente pero eso lo vamos a solucionar dentro de poco tiempo con la masilla
Now is the time to correct the small details that are present and that did not come out during the smoothing process, for that I will use a product called putty that is made of two components that once mixed, dry after several minutes
Ahora es el momento de corregir los pequeños detalles que están presentes y que no salieron durante el proceso de suavizado, para eso usaré un producto llamado masilla que está hecho de dos componentes que una vez mezclados, se secan después de varios minutos
I hope you have not forgotten that this is a team effort for that reason my partner is in charge of repairing the defect that has a front bumper
Espero que no hayas olvidado que esto es un trabajo en equipo por esa razón mi compañero se está encargando de reparar el defecto que tiene un parachoques delantero
after several minutes it had already been corrected and it was time to apply the putty to correct the small details that had remained
después de varios minutos ya se había corregido y era hora de aplicar la masilla para corregir los pequeños detalles que quedaban
In the meantime, I was already taking care of sanding the putty that I had applied to the footboard of the car because it was already dry because about 10 minutes had already passed. So now it was time to start sanding with the help of various sandpaper to give it the proper shape
mientras tanto ya yo me estaba encargando de ir lijando la masilla que había aplicado en el estribo del automóvil porque ya estaba seca debido a que ya habían transcurrido alrededor de unos 10 minutos. Así que ahora era el momento de comenzar a lijar con la ayuda de varios papeles lija para darle la forma adecuada
And I took the opportunity to cover the pieces that are intact with paper, and then apply the background
Y aproveché la oportunidad para cubrir las piezas que están intactas con papel, y luego aplicar el fondo
This is what it looks like Now the stirrup with the background applied. Now we only have to wait about an hour for this product to dry and be able to sand it with the help of very fine sandpaper to smooth the surface
Así es como se ve Ahora el estribo con el fondo aplicado. Ahora sólo tenemos que esperar aproximadamente una hora para que este producto se seque y poder lijarlo con la ayuda de un papel lija muy fina para suavizar la superficie
Of course we did the same thing to the front bumper once it was corrected and had the proper shape we applied this product and let it dry for 2 hours
Por supuesto que al parachoques delantero también le hicimos exactamente lo mismo una vez que estaba corregido y tenía la forma adecuada aplicamos este producto y lo dejamos secar por 2 horas
And now what we did was enter the car into the paint booth to start covering with paper what we did not want to smear with paint, that is, the intact parts although the bottom was not completely dry as it was a small part such as the footboard of the car , we had the opportunity to advance in the different processes
Y ahora lo que hicimos fue ingresar al automóvil en la cabina de pintura para comenzar a cubrir con papel lo que no queríamos untar con pintura, es decir, las partes intactas, aunque la parte inferior no estaba completamente seca, ya que era una parte pequeña como el estribo del auto, tuvimos la oportunidad de avanzar en los diferentes procesos

that is to say that we began to paper the car while it dried the bottom
We cover the entire car with paper and only leave one of the front parts exposed because we must also paint it
Cubrimos todo el automóvil con papel y solo dejamos una de las partes frontales expuestas porque también debemos pintarla
meanwhile my partner was taking care of sanding and washing the front bumper
mientras tanto a mi compañero se estaba encargando de líjar y lavar el parachoques delantero
and when it was sanded, we put it in the completely clean paint booth to start covering with paper the parts that we did not want to stain with paint
y cuando se lijó, lo pusimos en la cabina de pintura completamente limpia para comenzar a cubrir con papel las partes que no queríamos manchar con pintura
We are now fully ready to start the painting process. and the first thing we do is apply several layers of paint to completely cover the color
Ahora estamos completamente listo para iniciar el proceso de pintura. y lo primero que hacemos es aplicar varias capas de pintura hasta cubrir el color completamente
When the white color is covered it looks like this

It is time to apply a product called varnish to give shine to the paint. This product is liquid and is applied with the help of a paint gun and an air compressor
Es hora de aplicar un producto llamado barniz para dar brillo a la pintura. Este producto es líquido y se aplica con la ayuda de una pistola de pintura y un compresor de aire
With this we finish the painting process and now we only have to wait a period of 24 hours for the varnish to dry, then we have to assemble the bumper and then polish
Con esto terminamos el proceso de pintura y ahora solo tenemos que esperar un período de 24 horas para que se seque el barniz, luego tenemos que ensamblar el parachoques y luego pulir
So the next day the first thing I did was assemble the front bumper of the car and then start sanding with the help of very fine sandpaper and finally I began to polish the parts we painted with the help of the polisher
Entonces, al día siguiente, lo primero que hice fue armar el parachoques delantero del automóvil y luego comenzar a lijar con la ayuda de papel de lija muy fino y finalmente comencé a pulir las partes que pintamos con la ayuda de la pulidora
after about 25 minutes I finished polishing the parts and it was time to wash the car completely to deliver it completely clean
después de aproximadamente unos 25 minutos terminé de pulir las piezas y era el momento de lavar el auto completamente para entregarlo totalmente limpio
And as an extra detail the client asked us to paint a part of the front bumper in black
Y como detalle adicional, el cliente nos pidió que pintaramos una parte del parachoques delantero en negro
So we had to cover with paper again The pieces that we did not want to smear with black paint
Así que tuvimos que cubrir con papel nuevamente. Las piezas que no queríamos untar con pintura negra
After this we begin to cover the color black
Luego de esto comenzamos a cubrir el color negro
And then we apply a little varnish to the color to make it shiny
Y después le aplicamos un poco de barniz al color para que quede brillante
This is the end result of the completely finished project
