Click to see some of my favorite pictures I've taken in the last 199 days! Part of my 'poster everyday for a year series'
I'm a 22 year old photographer and videographer based in Michigan, USA. December 2019 I decided to post a picture every single day for 365 days. Today is day 199.
The original idea of the project was to get better with Photoshop and do something consistently everyday. I've never really done anything every single day except wake up and brush my teeth...
The first pictures were kind of random... I was simply focusing on figuring out how to use Photoshop.
The following weeks were different explorations in typography
Then, I got more into the idea of using colors and gradients. The main goal here was getting comfortable with more photoshop tools such as the pen & gradient tools
By day 50 you're starting to see much more consistency in how the pictures are being presented. I finally started using a standard template Photoshop file when creating them.
I continued the rich colors & gradient look for about a week
I've been taking pictures in manual mode ONLY since I got my Canon 80D about 3 years ago. It was a struggle that I purposely put myself through in order to fully control my camera. I knew the 'Auto' setting often didn't produc the picture I wanted. The only way I could do it was fully understand shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. I haven't taken a picture in AUTO for 2 years.
Now that you know that, you're ready to view the next phases in my posters. Around poster number 70 I was ready to take on a new challenge in photography. This time, pushing myself in composition and editing my photos in Photoshop.
This is one of my favorite photographs taken. It was very cold and windy. I decided to go to the top floor of a parking structure and take pictures down on the city. Just look at those sharp shadows 7 tire marks! The single computer screen is a beautiful natural touch :)
Sometimes the titles of posters get a little ridiculous. I like to think about the butterfly effect. I must have been extra in tune with the universe that day...
The time I brought my camera into the local grocery store when quarantine was announced...
100th poster! I didn't know it at the time, but this picture would eventually become a classic. This sky, moon & building theme is showing up a lot during May and June's posters and honestly, it's a style I'm really really enjoying taking.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
This picture also set the tone of a trend that has been showing up in May and June... I've started to truly love seeing airplane trails in pictures
I remember being excited about this picture because of the different foreground elements. One blurry bush in the bottom right and an in focus tree in the bottom left
If you look closely, every single line intersects another line.
Right about now I really started to feel a stride in this genre of photography. Looking at the sky has always been a hobby of mine, I just never had a way of sharing it until now.
This picture is special. I think a whole post can come of this poster alone. My great-aunt told me the cloud looked like an old man and it's made the image so much more meaningful to me.
This was taken at an AirBnb on vacation in Tennessee. One of my favorite images here. I spent about 15 minutes setting up the perfect framing and settings when all of a sudden a duck showed up and stood still long enough to stay in focus during the 2 second exposure. An absolutely beautiful moment.
This is the last image I'll post in this thread. Taken on a photowalk in my hometown.
