This was a portrait I started a few months ago and wasn't able to complete until Christmas day. I've aptly titled it 'Ayọ' meaning 'Joy' because this is the feeling it evokes in me when I look at it, and this is what I think the subject was feeling at that point in time. I think with everything going on in the world, we all need some joy.
For this, I mainly used Charcoal and some graphite.
Every time I start a portrait, I try to tell myself not to go too much into the details, but I somehow end up not doing that, I didn't plan for it to take such a long time to get this done, but all the same, my fixation on details delayed it.

I like to choose what I like the most about my portraits, and this time, I love the eyes
