I'll just say it upfront–If you are looking for a sci-fi show with an original feel to it then this is a great choice for you. It is engaging, with great cinematography. The actors do justice to their roles and even as some of the show may come across as somewhat weird to a few people I found it very interesting.
So far 5 episodes have been released and I managed to catch them all and found it quite thought provoking. I won't get into the details of the show just to avoid spoiling it for anyone here but it has great production values.
Many of the sci-fi shows seem to cater to younger audiences or tone down the content for a wider appeal so for those who desire to watch proper sci-fi are likely to find this entertaining. Visually i felt it was stunning for a TV show but the fact that Ridley Scott was associated with this project was one of the reasons that drew me towards watching it.
The show is fairly easy to follow and I felt it didn't have too many irrelevant details to make you go back and forth and leave you confused. I really liked how it built up the characters and how the plot unraveled. The very idea of human children raised by androids or artificial intelligence is not a new idea as it has been explored in movies like I Am Mother but this show executes the concept brilliantly.
The plot is original and I feel it is also extremely well casted with all the actors doing justice to their roles! It does take some time to tell its story so the pace is not extremely fast, but it has some good action to keep you entertained–brutal at times.
I went into this with low expectations as I hadn't even seen the trailer but after 5 episodes I am really looking forward to future releases. This show constantly reminded me of Prometheus, Alien and even Blade Runner. Check it out if you are in the mood for watching something new and refreshing in sci-fi genre with some great CGI work.
I rate this at 8.5/10.
