If you were ever curious about how social media impacts all of us directly on indirectly then this is a good watch. It will give you an idea of the extent of social media manipulation of our daily lives.
For some it could seem weird, challenge your preconceived notions about how wonderful these platforms are, and a few might not have a much to take away from this.
But, if you are concerned about any negative effects of platforms like Facebook and others that use AI and Machine Learning to keep us addicted to our phones all the time then this will reveal more about how much control they assert on the world around us.
The documentary is well made and it is definitely thought provoking, and if you are unaware of the ill-effects of social media platforms then you might even find it confusing or even unsettling. But I felt it was a call to action and a gentle reminder us to remain in control of our lives and not let social media dictate our behaviours which it is already and at scale.
So, I encourage everyone to watch this documentary and if you have already let me know your thoughts in the comments below. If you are curious to know more about it before you watch it on Netflix then here's the trailer for the same.
Social media is a major part of all our lives and it would be great if you could watch this with your family so you can have a discussion about it in your home and decide for yourselves, how you feel about this subject. But if there's only one thing you would watch this entire week, then you don't want to miss this!
I also recommend you Snowden, Citizenfour and The Great Hack if you've seen The Social Dilemma but haven't seen the others yet.
