Snow. In the end of May. A healthy amount of snow. Woke up to it snowing pretty hard and it kept snowing off and on all day long.
We all went down for breakfast and were seated in the water's edge side where we got a view of the outdoor pool which opened at 7am. There were hardly any people around and after we ate we all spent about an hour and a half in the outdoor pools. I did not get any pics due to the snow.
It was about 30F air temp and even though it was snowing it was super bright out which made me have to go get my sunglasses. After we had had enough of the cold air outside we came inside to the warm air of the indoor pools. The boys and played a couple games with the ball and pool noodle.
The view from our room looks out over the now snow covered golf course and the actual hot springs themselves. Under the roofs are the original springs which get pumped out into the swimming pools. There is constant steam coming from the springs and blowing out from under the roofs.
The place has a USDA okayed display of the llama, sheep, and 2 goats. None of them seemed to bothered by the snow but the goats did hang in their hut most of the day.
In the afternoon it had let up in the snow a bit so we went for a walk around. The ducks that are in the pond are really tame seeming and wander right up to the fence, likely looking for food.
The golf course is shut down for the snow. Last week the place was apparently packed and the course was in full swing. Now the carts are all lined up and the pro shop dark and closed.
We ate dinner and were back at the pools by about 7:30 pm where we stayed until the outdoor pool closed at 10:00. We all rode the water slide and J really enjoyed it. R did it a few times but wasn't quite as excited for it, but he still did it.
Today we continue our drive and hopefully we make it to ND easily. There is snow about to Billings which is still a 3 hour drive away, over the continental divide and snow covered roads. This morning we are going to go eat then spend more time in the pools before taking off. The fun will be getting us all ready and out of here in some semblance of time.
