On Thursday J asked to go fishing but it was mid day and I was in the middle of working so I told him we could go in the morning. We loaded everything into the truck after I scrounged up a bunch of worms and headed to the lake. When we got there we found only a couple cars and a few people walking around the loop. We headed over to our regular spot and as we walked the loop the lake was like glass. There wasn't a ripple or wave of any kind. I figured this meant for some slim fishing but we set up anyway.
One of the things about bringing the boys fishing is that I always bring food with and they then spend most of their time focused on the food instead of fishing. They are growing fast though so it is not surprising.
We gave it an hour but got not one bite. We saw a bunch of trout in the shallows but nothing was biting. As we walked back to the truck to head home we passed a group our for a nature field trip it looked like. It was so nice to see a group of people NOT wearing masks. This world is a complete shit show when perfectly healthy people are so petrified of a flu, which is all covid amounts to. I had both this year and the flu was WAY worse.
Back at the farm I got working on finishing the siding on the studio. I was reaching ot grab a piece of hte siding and saw this monster of a fly. I tried to get pictures of it but these were all I got. This thing was HUGE and had a black and metallic look to it. The wings were tiny but strong enough to fly with.
This shows just how big it was. It flew off right after I took this shot. I was trying ot get it to focus on my hand but no luck. I have found that it is likely a Cuterebra fly.
Super stoked now, I have the siding done on the studio. I have 6 sheets left over and a small pile of scrap which will all get used on the coop to try and finish its siding finally.
The corners still need to be covered but he hardest part is done with all the siding up. The thing is now fully ready for winter and the oncoming storms.
Since I moved the dragon fruit inside to the warmth of the house they have put off air roots all over the place. This is a normal part of the plant though as it would normally use them to attach to whatever it is climbing for support.
The scrap from all the siding looks cool. We are going to be saving them to use in a mobile or chime type thing. They are too cool to toss right away.
Threw down over 2k words on my story and am up over 15,000 on it. It is working really well to have Scrivener open all day as I come in the house and write a hundred words or so then off to something else.
Latest Audiobook finished:
K. M. Weiland - Outlining Your Novel – Map Your Way to Success
(As I was listening to this I kept going, "Shit, I'm already doing that," to many of the things she talked about. This story I have came about from a 1 page write up that I then made a 2 page scene list outline which is what I am working off of now as I write. It's really nice to get confirmation that what I have going is excepted and a common method for others.)
Today will be busy as usual and I am not sure what exactly I will be doing when, I just have a list that needs to be worked on.
