The storms have been pushing through the country and we woke up to the rains in the morning. Most of the day was cloudy and windy but not too cold. This part of ND is considered to be in exceptional drought right now and so any bit of moisture that they get is REALLY needed. The only other place in the country this bad is the desert south west. It made for a day spent around the house while the boys played on Granny's Ipads (which they absolutely love and we refuse to get for them).
After noon C and the nieces all showed up for the evening. They had been decorating for the graduation before they came over. We spent time hanging and talking while the boys played with the youngest niece. They played up to dinner then after dinner went back outside to keep playing until dark.
9pm local time and 7pm at home I got a weather notice on my phone for the farm, a big line of thunderstorms was moving in from the east with potential for heavy hail. I texted my mom to let her know for the farm then I watched on our cams around the farm as the storm plowed into the farm. It only rained heavily for which I am thankful since the plants in the garden did not get beat up. Over the next hour I kept tabs on the storm and turned it off once it was apparent there was no hail.
That is where I come to the picture. It always gets me the length of the light hours in this part of the country. With the time zone line only an hour to the west of Minot it means that it is light WAY later than it is back on the farm. On the farm we are closer to the east side of the time zone than the west which makes our nights longer dark. This was taken at 10pm last night and it was more than light enough to do most anything outside.
C and the nieces took off for their place shortly after I got the picture. They had an hour drive home and the girls were all ready to crash.
Today is graduation in the afternoon and on the way we have to pickup the cake and do a bit more shopping. The storm system still trundling around the country is going to give us some nice thunderstorms tonight hopefully as the weather is calling for up to a half inch of rain overnight. Today is also logistics day trying to figure out when we will meet up with friends around here in between all the other things we are trying to do.
