Yesterday morning we were up as usual but it was the start of a fun day for us. J had school and had work so we were out soaking at the normal time in the increasingly bright sunrise.
With both of them out of the house I spent the next few hours gathering up everything for our overnight excursion. It's nice being one night makes it a small amount of accoutrements, or as Carlin said "our stuff", and key things are the growlers. When heading to the local of one of our favorite breweries, Laughing Dog Brewery, we ensure we have at least a couple with us to bring their tasty libations the hour home with us.
I picked J up from school at 11:30 and we were home quickly so he could get his bag packed. was home before noon and had her things quickly packed and after loading up we were out by 12:30.
It was just an hour drive up the 2 and we were parked in Sandpoint. We all walked around the block to Bluebird Bakery which is one of our favorite places for lunch. They have killer menu and their avocado toast is delectable. I strayed and had their chicken ciabatta which was also delicious.
Once done with our food we walked back to the car an drove the few block to the hotel. Our room was pretty slick with our ground floor patio door opening right next to the restaurant patio. That wasn't a problem with it so cold the deck is not in use so there was no noise problem.
I had to look for something to pacify J since he was missing a celebration thing at school and became all emotional. Remembering the theater up there I took a look and there was a showing that we could make it to. It was governing our schedule through eating but everything worked perfectly and we had more than enough time.
It is not a big theater but hey have 6 to 8 screens with maybe 150 to 200 seats per screen. This was the boys first experience in a theater and it was very much like mine which was in the Bass Lake theater seeing Empire Strikes Back. Theirs was getting to see the new Jackass movie. It was us and another younger couple in the entire room.
It's Jackass so we all know what we are going to be seeing but nonetheless it is damned funny. I love slapstick and they are the kings of it. This movie is a true tell that they are handing off the reins to the new generation, there is only so much abuse a body can take before a person has to give in to the attrition. The boys and ourselves laughed our ass off and it was a great first movie theater experience for them.
Out of the movie we headed the couple block up to the brewery where the boys got their rootbeer and pretzel while we had our beers and got our growlers filled. The brewery is such a warm and welcoming place and I always have felt at home sitting at a table or at the bar in any one of their various establishments they have had, and we have been to them all.
With our growlers filled we headed back to the hotel an went for the pool. Initially it was just us in the place and we ha the pool, hot tub, an sauna to ourselves.
It wasn't too long before the first people arrive an soon it was a full on party. There is a basketball tournament in town an the hotel was full of families there for it. The pool area ended up with 20+ people and a bunch were fairly chatty. At one point J was in the sauna and he was talking about how the rocks on the heater worked to keep heat and help emanate heat and one of the kids in there with him said, "that's too much brains for this small of a room, I'm out".
We left the group to their fun and went back to our room where the boys got time on their computers and we were to bed.
Today was fun and now that we are home I got the tub topped off and it now needs to heat again. I will be getting the fire going as soon as this is posted for grilling our bison tonight. I have to get the truck hooked up to the trailer for an early morning run tomorrow and we will finish the night off soaking in OUR tub.
