Yesterday morning dawned to snow. It was a light snow for most of the morning and dropped maybe an inch in all. I got the boys to school then had myself ready and was in town for my 10am dentist appointment. Unfortunately they weren't able to do much other than refer me to the oral surgeons for tooth extractions. The problem is that my molars have hooked tips to the roots which is why the root canal failed on the bottom tooth. When I had the endo done he said he wasn't sure how well it would stay given the 90 degree hook that the drills couldn't make it around. The bottom tooth is infected and HAS to come out.
I have been reading more about my eczema and am finding more studies that are connecting dental problems to systemic health problems. I have been doing a lot of thinking and trying to remember back and I think I have a correlation made. In about 2003 my body went into a full eczema explosion and my whole body was effected. At that time I had 2 teeth that had fused together and were rotting away which I think may have been the trigger for my eczema. I say this as now I have an infected tooth and my skin is going to shit without much ability to really control it. I am going to call the surgeon today and try to get an appointment setup for as soon as possible.
I left the dentist and was getting on the bypass north when I remembered I was supposed to pickup new table for her studio at Home Depot so I turned around and headed back into town to get it. Once home I had to unload it and haul it up the ice coated pathway to the studio.
I have crampons but I didn't want to drag them out so I pulled out my ancient pair of golf shoes since they had nice spikes. I tossed the table on the dolly and then drug it up the path. The shoes worked perfectly but it was their last task ever. I had the shoes since 1996 or so and in those years the foam of the sole had turned to crumbles. By the time I was back down at the house the soles were falling off and I just tossed the shoes in the trash.
My first book arrived in the mail. I was a bit concerned about not hearing anything back from my initial email to the school but then I looked closer at their calendar and I see that they have the Monarca Paragliding Competition the 8th-14th in Mexico which is why I won't hear anything until they have returned most likely. I have a couple more books coming and I will have them read multiple times before I ever go to the class.
I can already feel the wing overhead from my kiting experience and am soooo looking forward to classes.
I got dinner ready early as was taking the boys to scouts since I had the co-op board meeting to attend. We are having trouble getting a quorum of farmers for conducting some of the board duties and are having to get a bit creative.
I am also re-evaluating my plans for this growing season. Last year I did nothing for myself, everything was focused on infrastructure around the farm and picking produce. I didn't go climb, hike, camp, anything. This year I need to spend time on things for my head and body and focus less of my energy on the gardens. I am going to be working on planning a less daily intensive garden for this year, one that will allow me days away from the farm without worry.
Self care is supremely important and something that I have been notoriously bad at.
