In June 2012 I reconciled with Carlos Angustias, by then I had opened a small esoteric store with one of my best friends, but I didn't feel very good working in partnership with him, so Carlos' call again made me accept his invitation to be part of his company again, this time we would be working on several projects simultaneously, The first two weeks I was in the office building a project for the construction of a mother and child hospital in the city of Caracas, which involved drawing up plans, metric calculations and budgets, the truth is that I was very excited because this was a great test for me, I was showing myself what I had learned and my boss was really proud because he was the one who had taught me everything about this kind of thing.



By mid-June we had already delivered the project with everything and budget, we just had to wait for the positive response, however, it was a work that would begin the following year, the day we finished this project, Carlos invited me to be part of the team that would supervise 6 works on Margarita Island, I accepted almost without thinking, it was the way to finally go to know this island, and besides putting land and sea in between to forget some failures. We were on this island for 6 months, the time went by between working and doing market for the week practically, although from time to time we took some free time to escape to the beach and to have dinner at a good restaurant, the truth is that the salary was very good and we could afford some luxuries.



I was in charge of the supervision of the distributed electricity generation sites of the plants in Boca de Rio, Porlamar, Las Hernandez and Los Millanes, these 4 sub-power stations together with 4 more and the main station, are the ones in charge of supplying electric energy to the whole island, so it was a big responsibility we had in our hands, And I say we had because we were a multidisciplinary team, we had to work together perfectly to not interfere with the operations of plants, because although our work was at the level of civil construction and not electricity, any error could affect the work of power plants.



Cleaning, painting, hydraulics, and construction of guard houses and common areas, some roads and internal routes, basically was what had to be done in these locations, manufacture of some oil tanks that also involved the construction of buckets to prevent the spillage of it in case of an accident, was only part of some of the work we would have during these 6 months, some road repairs, simple things in the eyes of many (even before working on this said they were simple things), but the attention and good supervision to be perfect. If I learned something from Carlos Angustias it was the attention to detail, because these are the ones that make the difference, a wall with a perfect flat will always be a good entry letter, a road with the perfect level will always have the exact slope to avoid puddles of water that will damage it in the future, a right wall will always fit perfectly with the others, this kind of things he told me and I still remember them.



I remember some accidents with the workers, in all cases, it was because they did not like to use the safety implements, this kind of thing made us paralyze the work and mobilize the injured personnel. This was the most difficult part, because we did not know the island well and the whole protocol was difficult, thank God this happened to us only a couple of times.



By December of this year, we would be ready, on December 21 to be exact, I was supposed to return the following year, but thinking about my personal and emotional stability I decided to quit that December, and not continue working in construction, at least not directly, although I must confess that sometimes I die to return to this life. I even went back to work with Carlos years later, but not in construction.

Life puts us in places and times that we sometimes never imagine, the university prepares us for certain things but it is life that really teaches us.

En junio de 2012 me reconcilie con Carlos Angustias, para ese entonces yo había abierto una pequeña tienda esotérica con uno de mis mejores amigos, pero no me sentía muy bien trabajando en sociedad con él, así que la llamada nuevamente de Carlos me hizo aceptar su invitación a formar parte nuevamente de su empresa, esta vez estaríamos trabajando en varios proyectos de manera simultánea, las dos primeras semanas estuve internada en la oficina levantando un proyecto para la construcción de un hospital materno infantil en la ciudad de Caracas, lo que implicaba el levantamiento de planos, cómputos métricos y presupuestos, la verdad es que me sentía muy emocionada pues esta era una gran prueba para mí, me estaba demostrando a mí misma lo que había aprendido y mi jefe estaba realmente orgulloso pues él era quien me había enseñado todo lo que tenía que ver con este tipo de cosas.



Para mediados de junio ya habíamos entregado el proyecto con todo y presupuestos, solo nos quedaba esperar la respuesta positiva, sin embargo era una obra que se empezaría el año siguiente, el día que terminamos este proyecto, Carlos me invito a formar parte del equipo que se encargaría de supervisar 6 obras en la Isla de Margarita, acepte casi sin pensarlo, era la manera de ir a conocer por fin esta isla, y además de poner tierra y mar de por medio para olvidarme de algunos fracasos. Fueron 6 meses los que estuvimos en esta isla, el tiempo se nos iba entre trabajar y hacer mercado para la semana prácticamente, aunque de vez en cuando sacábamos un tiempo libre para escaparnos a la playa y a cenar a algún buen restaurant, la verdad es que el salario era muy bueno y podíamos darnos algunos lujos.



Estuve a cargo de la supervisión de los emplazamientos de generación distribuida de electricidad de las plantas de Boca de Rio, Porlamar, Las Hernández y Los Millanes, estas 4 sub estaciones eléctricas conjuntamente con otras 4 más y la estación principal, son las que se encargan de surtir energía electica a toda la isla, así que era una responsabilidad grande la que teníamos a nuestro cargo, y digo teníamos porque éramos un equipo de trabajo multidisciplinario , que debíamos trabajar engranados perfectamente para no interferir con las operaciones de las plantas, pues si bien nuestro trabajo era a nivel de construcción civil y no de electricidad, cualquier error podía afectar el trabajo de las plantas eléctricas .



Trabajos de limpieza, pintura, hidráulica y construcción de casetas de vigilancia y áreas comunes, algunas caminerías y vías internas, básicamente era lo que se tenía que realizar en estos emplazamientos, fabricación de algunos tanques contenedores de aceite que implicaban además la construcción de cubetos que impidieran el derrame del mismo en caso de algún accidente, eran solo parte de algunos de los trabajos que tendríamos durante estos 6 meses, algunas reparaciones en vialidad, cosas sencillas a la vista de muchos (incluso yo antes de trabajar en esto decía que eran cosas simples), pero de atención y buena supervisión para que quedaran perfectas. Si algo aprendí de Carlos Angustias era la atención a los detalles, pues estos son los que marcan la diferencia, una pared con un liso perfecto siempre será una buena carta de entrada, una carretera con el nivel perfecto siempre tendrá la pendiente exacta para evitar charcos de agua que a futuro dañen la misma, una pared derecha siempre encajara perfecta con las demás, este tipo de cosas me las decía él y aun las recuerdo.



Recuerdo algunos accidentes con los trabajadores, en todos los casos era porque no les gustaba utilizar los implementos de seguridad, este tipo de cosas nos hacían paralizar la obra y movilizar al personal herido. Esta digamos que era la parte más difícil, pues al no conocer bien la isla se nos hacía difícil todo el protocolo, gracias a Dios fueron solo un par de veces lo que esto nos sucedió.



Para diciembre de este año ya estaríamos listos, el 21 de Diciembre para ser exactos, yo debía que regresar el año siguiente, pero pensando en mi estabilidad personal y emocional decidí renunciar ese diciembre, y no continúe trabajando en la construcción, por lo menos no de manera directa, aunque debo confesar que en ocasiones muero por regresar a esta vida. Incluso volví a trabajar con Carlos años después, pero no en la construcción.

La vida nos va poniendo en lugares y tiempos que a veces jamás imaginamos, la universidad nos prepara para ciertas cosas ero es la vida la que realmente nos enseña.
