Greetings community! Today I want to show you how to make your own deodorant. Easy, free of chemicals that can damage our skin and best of all, ecological. For those of you who don't know, most commercial deodorants have chemical ingredients that can be carcinogenic, among them, the most common use in deodorants is aluminum. When we make our own deodorant, we´re not only aware of the ingredients in it, but we also avoid buying products that are tested on animals. In this way we use a product that is natural, ecological, cruelty-free and made by ourselves.
Tengo unos tres años haciendo mi propio desodorante y me encanta. No mancha mi ropa, no me deja una sensación pegajosa y puedo hacerlo de la fragancia que me guste. Este desodorante se hace con muy pocos ingredientes y todos son muy fáciles de conseguir. Veamos cuáles son:
Ingredientes:
- 2 cucharadas de almidón de maíz (maicena)
- 1 cucharada de bicarbonato de sodio
- 2 o 3 cucharadas de aceite de bebé o aceite de coco
- Esencia que más les guste, rosa, jazmín, limón, coco, etc. (opcional)
- Un recipiente de plástico
- Una cuchara o palito de plástico o de madera para mezclar
- Un envase con tapa para guardar el desodorante
I have been making my own deodorant for about three years and I love it. It doesn´t stain my clothes, it doesn´t leave me a sticky feeling and I can do it with the fragrance that I like. This deodorant is made with very few ingredients and they are all very easy to find. Let's see what we need:
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 2 or 3 tablespoons of baby oil or coconut oil
- Essence that you like the most, rose, jasmine, lemon, coconut, etc. (optional)
- A plastic container
- A wooden or plastic spoon or stick for mixing
- A container with a lid to store the deodorant
Cómo se hace / How to do it
Paso 1:
En primer lugar, vamos a poner en el recipiente plástico el bicarbonato de sodio y el almidón de maíz y los vamos a mezclar muy bien para que queden bien unidos. Como el bicarbonato suele a veces tener pelotitas gruesas les recomiendo que antes de echarlo lo pasen por un colador para que quede bien fino.
Step 1:
First of all, we´re going to put the baking soda and cornstarch in the plastic container and we´re going to mix them very well so that they are well united. As bicarbonate sometimes has thick balls, I recommend that before pouring it to the container to pass it through a strainer so that it´s very fine.
El bicarbonato absorve los malos olores, es antiséptico y ayuda a aclarar la piel / Baking soda absorbs bad odors, is antiseptic and helps to lighten the skin
El almidón de maíz ayuda en las irritaciones de la piel y a eliminar los malos olores corporales / Cornstarch helps with skin irritations and eliminates bad body odors
Paso 2:
Seguidamente añadimos poco a poco el aceite de bebé o de coco y vamos mezclando hasta tener una textura compacta y homogénea que se pueda untar. Dependiendo de si les gusta más firme o más líquida echan las dos o las tres cucharadas del aceite de bebé o de coco.
Step 2:
Then we add the baby or coconut oil little by little and we mix until we have a compact and homogeneous texture that can be spread. Depending on whether you like it firmer or more liquid, add two or three tablespoons of baby or coconut oil.
El aceite de bebé ayuda a mantener la piel suave e hidratada/ Baby oil helps keep skin soft and moisturized
Paso 3:
Los aceites de bebé suelen tener un aroma muy agradable y suave pero si quieren pueden agregar unas gotas de la esencia que más les guste. Yo le eché unas gotas de esencia de coco pero a veces prefiero dejarlo con el rico aroma del aceite de bebé.
Step 3:
Baby oils usually have a very pleasant and soft fragrancy, but if you want you can add a few drops of the essence that you like the most. I added a few drops of coconut essence but sometimes I prefer to leave it with the rich aroma of baby oil.
Paso 4:
Vaciamos la mezcla en un envase con tapa y listo, ya tenemos un desodorante natural y ecológico.
Step 4:
We empty the mixture into a container with a lid and voila, we already have a natural and ecological deodorant.
Una vez envasado está listo para usar, toman un poco con la punta del dedo y lo aplican en sus axilas. Si a los días ven que el aceite sube, es normal, simplemente lo mezclan con un palito y listo.
Once packaged it´s ready to use, take a little with the tip of your finger and apply it to your armpits. If after a few days you see that the oil rises, it´s normal, simply mix it with a stick and that's it.
