Page after page… we’re slowly drifting…
Welcome to another edition of #TuesdayThoughts where I talk about something that’s on my mind. It’s part of my weekly schedule for #HiveBloPoMo (you can check out this tag to join next time).
What are you reading?
As you might have guessed I’m one of the the many who has constantly been telling himself ‘Hey you need to read more!”
No before I continue, I feel like I need to say that I do read a lot for work; I go through articles, social mediap post, business plant, marketing trends and all that daily. So it’s not that I don’t read.
However I don’t feel like this counts for everything cause where are the books that I want to read in my personal time?
I don’t know about you but the message that “all successful people read”, “reading helps your brain develop” I mean just Google search the benefits and you’ll see a list: Stress Reduction, Knowledge, Vocabulary, Memory improvement, the list goes on and on. So for most of my adult life I’ve been feeling guilty. Over the years I’ve always felt like I was failing in that area. Can you relate???
As a result, in typical Gyanno fashion, I decided to do something about it! I joined a book club, I installed these reading apps on my tab, I challenged friends!!! I’m not going to sit here an tell you that I read one book a week but I’ve settled on finishing about one book every 2 months.
My goal is to get that down to one a month and go from there.
So what do I do now?
- First off my book is with me most of the time, if its on the tab or hardcover I take I with me wherever I can. And I do mean wherever as in, if I have to go anywhere I could have to wait in line, I open the book.
I’ve now read at the barbershop, Tax office, Doctor, Internet service provider, you name it! - Sorry for the TMI but the toilet/ lavatory/bathroom is a great place to read. It’s peaceful and quiet (unless you ate a bad burrito 😂😂😂)…
- Reading in my yard: By now you’ve read the words lockdown and yard multiple times in my blogs but it’s true. Just sit outside with your cup of coffee and read away!
- I’ve even gone so far as read between online (ps4) games. As soon as there is a loading screen I’m reading!
I think those could help get you started. I’ve heard people talk about reading before bed, and that’s cool. I’m not completely sold but it’s cool.
That being said, I think we should also acknowledge the facts that not all books end up being interesting. You should be able to stop if you don’t like it, just pick up another one.
These are my 3 latest books. What are you reading?
Tell me below!
Cheers,
