Stepping into the unknown is perhaps the bravest thing a heart can do. We stayed in our safe space not because it brings us joy, but because we know the shape of its shadows. The unknown is a vast, blank canvas that terrifies us. hat if we paint the wrong picture? What if the path leads to a fall? And yet, standing at the edge of change, we realize that staying put is also a choice, and sometimes, the fear of what lies ahead is less heavy than the regret of never having walked that way at all.
The Edge of Unwritten Roads
I stand upon the edge of what I know,
Where solid ground begins to fade and go.
Before me lies a mist of endless gray,
A world that hides its secrets from the day.
My feet are heavy, anchored deep in fear,
Of futures that have not yet appeared.
What trials wait behind the silent veil?
Will strength or courage within me fail?
I cling to yesterdays, though they are worn,
For new horizons leave me feeling torn.
The known is safe, familiar, and near,
While what I haven't lived brings chilling fear.
Yet, standing still is not a place to be,
The stillness turns into a quiet sea.
I must step forth and trust the path appears,
And walk beyond the kingdom of my fears.
For in the unknown, the spark of hope can grow,
And flowers bloom where I refused to go.
I breathe deep now, and let the old life end,
To meet the unknown as a foe or friend.
I may be trembling as I take that first step, but I am stepping forward nonetheless. Fear is still my companion, but it no longer holds the reins. Instead, faith becomes the fuel that drives me. Faith that I am not walking alone, and that whatever lies ahead is part of a greater plan I cannot yet see. I am willing to face the uncertainty, trusting that even if I stumble, I will be held.
