It's strange moving back to the town I grew up in. Not in the sense that we've been living far away and have returned after a long time. No. We moved here from just one town North.
What's been weird about it is driving our youngest son, Logan, to school. We go right past my old Highschool. Today I took the backstreet that passes by my old ballfield. So many memories of baseball, old classmates, and girlfriends exist on these streets.
Logan Was Feeling Fine This Morning
I was informed by my dear woman after running to pick our sick son up from school early, that we are doing it wrong. We are supposed to be checking his temperature before school every morning.
This led to an interesting conversation, because I find the fever thing rather interesting in itself. I proceeded to tell my wife that Logan didn't have a fever this morning.
She said we don't know that because we didn't check it with a thermometer. I said I would notice if our son was running a fever of over 100°. Lol.
We digressed from there. That's not the point, she said. He could have had a little fever. Haha. A little one? What would that tell us? Ok, I regrouped. What's the acceptance variance in temperature from the normal 98.6, I asked?
100° was my wife's reply. Ok then, so he could go to school with a fever of 99.8 degrees? She quickly changed her answer to 99.5°. This is when I knew she didn't know the answer. 🤣🤣
No Return Until October 15th Or...
Before being bombarded with all this info from my wife, the school nurse had her terms to hand out. She told me Logan couldn't come back to school until October 15th. Ten days. Or he can get a Covid test and wait another day without a fever if it comes back negative.
So four days with a test, which would bring us to the weekend. Without one he'll miss all next week of school. Tomorrow I have to call our doctor and see if they'll test him while he's running a fever. My said they will, that keeping sick people from care was sooooo two months ago!
October Spirits Abound!
They must be helping little Logan feel better. He took a nap for most of the afternoon but is up now, feeling fine. That's quite a bit of trouble for one small fever that might have lasted all of 6 hours.
What do you do but roll with punches and take pictures of your Halloween Decor? The foggy landscape from our backyard was taken in the morning a week back. It helps set the October mood!
A tombstone lays at the end of our planter. All my tomato plants have now been chopped down but one. The tombstone's location is rather fitting as it signals the death of my garden.
In the corner of the room next to our flat screen hangs this ghast. His evil grin watches over us as watch our horror flicks all month long. Mmmmwwhuuuuhahaaaaaa!
A ghostly image hovers in our kitchen next to a row of baby pumpkins. He makes his soft scary sounds in the middle of the night as my wife stirs up her baleful brew! Lol. Images of a cauldron should be coming to your mind, and maybe a nose full of warts.
Visitors may catch the stink of rotting flesh from the buried out front as they approach our entryway. And our door welcomes the denizens of the spirit world, only to find a locked gate upon their arrival! Creak-creak!
They come only to find the warning which points to happy ghosts that look like Casper. A warning of happiness inside keeps the malignant spirits at bay.
Old Grandfather protects us, keeping the time and the chimes away from 3 am. No witching hour will he ring.....because we just got it him and he needs work! Lol.
This gorgeous antique belonged to my wife's grandparents. Her father shipped it out to us from Florida and it arrived last week. There was some slight damage to the frame inside that mounts the timepiece and gearworks.
Luckily, my Father In Law is a master woodcrafter and should have no problem fixing it. Then we'll need to call Bob's Clock Shop (who my parents use to use) to get the old boy back in time.
Thanks for your October attention. Hope you're keeping things spooky and as always...
